Thoughts on Silent Hill f

Silent Hill 2 Remake's bizarrely positive reception still irritates me, so I'm on my usual anti-Konami mode by default with this game, tbh.

That said, this being so far removed from what SH used to be - which is a move I think they should have made ages ago! The original SH games were lightning in a bottle and with Team Silent dead and gone, there's absolutely no point in chasing that formula - is looking really promising.

I'm definitely interested and look forward to seeing more of it.

I would be more interested in it if:
1) Ryukishi was nowhere near it (I cannot understand the level of reverence he gets, when I tried reading higurashi it was so stupid that I quit halfway through (and after fully spoiling myself, none of my grievances were actually just some deep mystery, it *was* just dumb))
2)It wasn't under the silent hill brand. It's really weird to me to have the whole series based around this one town that has had weird properties since forever and then randomly go to 1960's japan. Although the trailer makes me more optimistic because the flower theming of the initial teaser made me think they'll just do a "actually, silent hill is weird because of these flowers and they come from japan, lol"

Also, I'm not really a fan of how cinematic newer horror games are, and the sparse hints of gameplay in the trailer definitely suggest that, especially the "crawling through *spooookyyyy* tight spaces while being chased" thing, it's so overdone.
At the same time, it's way too early to tell anything about it for now, so it could be quite good (even though the silent hill connections still seem tenous at best)

Still too early for any definitive thoughts from me. If I just saw the trailer without looking at the title, I wouldn't have guessed it was a Silent Hill game though. It feels more Siren or Fatal Frame-like, but whether that's a good thing remains to be seen.

Even though I know it's quite a bit too early to judge, I am pretty excited about this and I'll be honest, I couldn't help but think about Fatal Frame and Forbidden Siren. What do you guys think? Are you curious and excited as well?
Well, the game very much looks set to be the origin story of the Aglaophotis substance which played a massive role in saving Harry and Heather Mason's lives in Silent Hill 1 & 3. The tagline "Find the Beauty Within Terror" and the flower themed Otherworld scream it.

I'm also definitely going to play this game entirely in Japanese, mainly to further immerse myself in this new, Asian setting after seven mainline games and two side entries set in America. I usually have no problem with English voice acting, but this time I'm most definitely going to go full Metro and play in the foreign language for immersion's sake. Remember, the Silent Hill games are famed for being some of the most immersive horror titles of all time, so why not go whole hog?

I watched that stream. They presented new trailer, and for the next half hour they talked about nothing but how proud they are and how they praised their new game. Moreover, the same words were repeated, essentially, only in different variations. I am disappointed. And the new game looks disgusting! Not scary and creepy, but simply disgusting. They must call this game Silent Hill: Piece Of Shit.
Especially that moment in both the first teaser and the new trailer when that girl's severed face falls off. Ewww. That is VERY disguisting.
I expected for new REAL Silent Hill. Not the a new chapter of "Higurashi When They Cry". Or hentai porn with tentacles.
You REALLY don't understand Silent Hill, don't you?

Interesting! Also got me thinking, If this series started out being set in Japan then goes to Maine as the Silent Hill we know. I bet there'd be a lot more story to pull from which is nice!

I hope it's good. Aside from the metal pipe weapon I don't see anything Silent Hill about it. I don't really have any faith in it. It looks way better than what ever that trash social media game before it was. I thought Silent Hill 2 Remake was fun to play. I completed it, but it wasn't really Silent Hill 2. It was just the best modern Silent Hill game by a mile that unfortunately had to borrow all of its story from a previous game.
f- I hope it's good. It doesn't look good to me. I don't get why it's a Silent Hill game.

Question why the hell Silent Hill started in Japan

Is it Silent Hill located in United States

I was excited when I learned we'd get a Silent Hill set in 60s Japan. The change of setting was sure to bring some fresh and interesting imagery to the series. Absolutely love the flesh flowers overtaking the environment like a rot. There's a part of my brain that finds it icky that everything is so relatively clean even in the more dreamlike environments, but that line of reasoning is why Silent Hill has been stagnating for two decades now. SH2R sure didn't help.

I'm curious to see how it shapes out.

It looks downright amazing to me. Wifey and I played Silent Hill 3 together on release while we were early in dating one another. It's nice to see the franchise make a solid return. I know some of you guys didn't like the SH2 remake, and while I have some gripes about how much it focused on the combat, I still think it was a solid entry in the series. I'm looking forward to Silent Hill f.

The visuals don't look that great tbh, but if the writing is good (possibly it will be good since it's being written by Ryukishi07) then I'll wait for it to be released to draw my own conclusions.

Since it's Silent Hill, I'll end up buying it day one regardless. That said, I'm skeptical. While the SH2 remake is very good, The Short Message was not. Thankfully, it was free so I can't complain too much.

I'll happily take a new Silent Hill over another remake, especially if it's going to look like this. The trailer visuals are stunning!

Would you be willing to elaborate? I played the original Silent Hill 2 some months ago, so I don't feel like shelling out $50 for nicer graphics.
