While i was away from RGT for 2 months playing SaGa frontier daily i didn't take much screenshots there isn't much to show in terms of pictures but i did replay System shock 2! A FPS/RPG/survival horror hybrid that kicks ass! I detailed my playthroughs of it somewhat just for this thread yes sometimes I'm inactive here but that doesn't mean i forget about you guys or your threads!
So behold my 2nd system shock 2 playthrough!
Starting on medication deck i have to avoid combat when possible as of now i just woke up from a cryo process and have to navigate a hostile environment filled with strange alien monsters and my own crew members infected by some sort of worm parasite in this picture I'm hiding from a "hybrid" who heard my footsteps.
The chemical room in medication deck all these chemicals help research of body parts and objects to aid me in my task in surviving and ascending the space ship , note a murdered soldier and some crates these may contain useful items or are empty most of the time.
Due to the main power being out and needing the power to use the elevator to meet up with a fellow crew member i had to go down to the engineering deck this is a clusterphobic and a must engage in combat deck robots are a big threat in this deck here I'm destroying a camera using my psionic powers , to prevent detection from the ship hijacked AI system a robot can be seen below it unaware of me a unfortunate decapitated soldier can be seen laying in a pool of his own blood...
Early on the player is weak and combat is best avoided when possible , here I'm cornered by robots the same type in the last picture these nasty machines sound and look friendly but once they get close they explode in your face it's quite stressful to have few chasing you.
Someone wrote "RUN" in blood.....who would do such a thing? A dead engineering deck crew member and a dead hybrid can be seen laying on the ground.
Having gone up tothe third deck called hydrophonics I'm stopped by an overwhelming biomass of alien stuff i need to figure a way to cleanse the biomass by scouring this deck , worth noting this deck is a breeding ground for the xenomorphs , in this picture a hybrid is running towards me they scream loudly and can be quite frightening at times their aggressiveness and sometimes sentient messages like "I'm sorry" when trying to hit you make the hybrids such a memorable enemy!
Mid combat with the hybrid , note when you hit something or something comes close it's "selected"
A good hybrid is a dead hybrid , something unique about hybrid is when they get hit they sometimes yell out "AHHHH KILL ME" they are aware of their tormented state and want to be put out of it , upon dying they let out a loose scream they vary from "ouch that hurt" to "release finally" in terms of how they sound
I welcome you to system shock 2 scariest enemy , meet the midwife! These human nurses coerced and forced to become caretakers of the unborn aliens are painful to deal with , they have ranged and melee attack , they can absorb a fair amount of punishment , they look scary they sound scary (they say things like "little ones need lot of care to grew big and strong" or "you're mine now" when they spot you said in such a voice that charms you for a moment but terrifies you in the next one) their lore is deranged and it's tragic to see such good nurses turned to become such horrific monsters.....in this picture i have activated a psionic ability called "pyro field" it can be seen on the right of the screen once activated I'm engulfed in flame and can damage anything around me by rushing down the midwife and slamming her with the wrench and this ability is active i can reliably kick their sorry butts
When i say hydrophonics is a breeding chamber i mean it as seen in this picture the xenomorphs made quite a mess.....an alien egg can be seen this is where the worms that infect humans and turn them into hybrids come from when approaching the egg you can hear them "singing" and if you get too close the egg opens and releases whatever it has either a worm , toxic crap or worse alien wasps.
SPOILER ALERT!
Well well here we are meeting the mighty SHODAN , SHODAN wanted to establish trust so she embodied a crew member identity and as "Paulie" she helped me survive you play the game as SHODAN avatar , the harbinger of her wrath as you combat her "mistake" her creation which we have been fighting called "the many" a hivemind entity with telepathic abilities and that's how it hijacked the ship we are on called "von braun".
Now on deck 4 called operations or for short "Ops" after meeting SHODAN i have to slash my way through this deck to override the ship AI data cores present on the deck well i said "the many" has telepathic abilities and using those it got agents that helped clear the way , including hacking the ship AI known as "xerxes" to do the will of the many well we are about to change that , here I'm passing through a hallway which sports a strangely hanging crew member.....how he got there is beyond me , alien worms can be seen crawling towards me they are easy to kill but can be difficult to deal with in overwhelming numbers.
Looking at the outer space such isolation....there is no rescue team or help coming to save a ship that travels by light speed.
Using the psionic ability "psi pull" to draw items that are hard to reach towards me i don't want to get close to those eggs so i just draw these nanites think of nanites as money.
Even more alien infestation in the crew quarters...
