The Mega-Poke Thread

Good thread name, i put the "mega" as a pun of mega evolution and thresd but i think that your name fits better.
You're absolutely right. This works too.

Since this is from the same devs can I also talk about Pulseman aka our favourite Ledian/Rotom hybrid?

PS: Is your signature that one drilling game from GF?

Oh yeah, Pulseman is a pretty good game, sad that was left on JP only.
Yeah, my signature is Drill Dozef.

Unless you used the Meganet but I agree it should've gotten a proper western release.

At least it got two re-releases:
It was released in North America for the Sega Channel in 1995. It was re-released on the Virtual Console for the Wii in 2007 and 2009, and the Nintendo Classics service in 2023.

Yeah, my signature is Drill Dozer.
I need to try that one someday.

i think there used to be a megathread (i think i might've created it? not sure) but i think it got erroneously purged when they mashed a bunch of threads together. no biggie though

i've been greatly enjoying pokémon champions on my phone, it really feels like the perfect format for a mobile game
i have a golurk that crushes almost everything right now with a variety of punch moves

Cool, i'm not really into competitive, it exiges very much to me.
Also, welcome back (even if you are not going to have too much activity).

yeah same mostly, i think it was a good move to make an official game where it's the only focus, makes it more fun to mix and match and find cool combinations that work

in general i still prefer the regular games, they evoke a "kid going on a summer break safari adventure" feel that i really love

the story is a bit more deep than the usual "trainer wants to become the champion of the league in an afternoon while defeating a villain organisation's leader who wanted to use the power of the region's legendary mon"
Yes! Explorers did something incredibly rare: It got me to care about the story in a Pokémon game. Rescue Team wasn't bad, not that I remember much of it now, but Explorers still sticks with me years after the fact, even if it's just the hard-hitting scenes like the trip to the future or the ending. I haven't heard if the other Mystery Dungeon games have good stories or not, but it is possible for Pokémon have them... but probably not in mainline because of The Formula.

I love that Pokemon has started officially releasing episodes on YouTube — the Orange League stuff was always a bitch to find.

If you purposed it, you could make this on a writing guild article.
Hm... You know what? Maybe I'll clean this up and make it my submission for the writers guild. Thanks for the suggestion.

Totally agree. Explorers of Sky definitely hits different compared to other Pokemon games. I'm guessing the developers were given a bit more artistic freedom since it was a spinoff.

I hope those are permanent uploads. I've seen companies upload full episodes of shows to Youtube, but only as a limited time thing. Like Capcom with the Mega Man Star Force anime - that was just a promotional thing for the respective Legacy Collection and then POOF. Gone.

Oh nice. I like the old animation style.

Speaking of series I really liked Concierge

And remember that it was done by Chunsoft, the legacy developer company for Dragon Quest from I to V as well as the people behind Otogirisou, Banshee's Last Cry, Machi, 428 Shibuya Scramble, 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors among many games with great stories.

I tried to love Concierge, and just couldn't.

I didn't even make it past episode two — something wasn't clicking.
