Game Description:

This is an Oracle of Ages hack that started as part of the 2024 Oracles Hackathon. It was completed and released on June 27th, 2026.

Hack Credits:

Released by: Pontius Stone
Language: English
Base: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (USA)
Type: New Story/Dungeons
Status: Complete
Initial Release Date: 27 June 2026
Patch Version: v1.0.6
Patch Date: 18 July 2026

Source and details: https://discord.gg/Fq6veG2yU (Wind Fish's Breeze - Oracles Hacking Community)
Alt: https://wiki.zeldahacking.net/oracle/List_of_hacks (Creator uploaded the .bps patch to here)

The hack is a dungeon-centric experience set in a smaller, denser overworld featuring 9 full-length dungeons, 4 mini-dungeons (dungeon map on pause screen, but no boss), and many other challenges. Featuring a story that is somewhat darker and gloomy compared to the original.

The creator recommends the emulators Sameboy and BGB, but it should work fine in mGBA.

If any of you art savvy guys can play this and design a GBC box cover that captures the feeling of this hack well, then I'll use it as the cover art for this. Just don't use AI for the creation of it.

How dark and gloomy we talking here? Also didn't know they made romhacks for the oracle games that's pretty nifty

I prefer the Gameboy box version too, but yes, thank you, it was quick and dirty but turned out well I think.

As for you Pinball stuff, what would you have added? And ya, I re-share lots of stuff as well as my own concoctions. I figure the more sources the better so I try to spread it life fire.
Well there's not much I could have added except maybe like PDFs of the manuals. I think they might have explained the table goals for them or something. Also maybe hard disk file versions that run better in RetroArch, but the ones already there were pretty thorough and run fine in it anyways.

It's nice that you added it to archive.org. I should probably upload to there too, but I only really use my login for being able to download from locked entries.

So you're EPenumbra... You reposted my 21st Century Pinball Classics Amiga comp to there. I don't mind but kinda wished you'd have mentioned it to me first. I would have maybe contributed an extra something or we could have talked about it or something. I dunno.

Good job on that cover thing using the ending image. It looks like one of the grids from steamgriddb. It has a similar ratio and resolution to the grid style images from there. I prefer an actual GBC box looking thing, but it was sufficient for the time being.

Looks better than mine, the one they stole for this post. ;)

There were Oracle romhacks before?
In 2024 there was a bunch of romhacks that were very short demo stuff with like one dungeon in them because of the Oracles Hackathon event they had. This here seems like the only romhack that is an entire campaign since all the others are either demos or tweaks to the game or sprites.

So this being like the only full new story/campaign hack for an Oracle game is a pretty important milestone imo. I'm glad I found it and was able to share it here. I wouldn't have known about it at all if not for someone sharing it on NextGenRoms forums (aka roms.by) since the hack doesn't really have a real source page.

Also I don't mean to be super picky but if you're going to make a cover that has Link on it make sure that it's the correct Link design for the period and not Toon Link or BoTW Link. Toon Link doesn't match with the Link from the Oracles games. The font text should also be like red and purple instead of green or so.

I wish I wasn't so broke. I'd like to do something cool like give out a $100 eShop card to whoever made a good cover I could use for this. Now the only prize would just be having your work be in the post. Thanks for taking the time to contribute ideas tho

What kind of gem is this? Another one for analysis, thank you very much.

looks awesome, i just been sharing what i make for my personal emulator (openEMU for the mac) I am not a professional graphic person and non of my stuff is made with Photoshop. (and trust me i own alot of my personal stuff i never post or have re-done some of my early hack covers)

I just like to share what i make, to give people an option of alternative cover art that are not anywhere else or not in a game scraper. Again like your work keep up the good work and share what you make.

Alt cover if anyone needs one, my own personal work (several layers) My normal nod to the hacker and my personal hacked seal. (more of the euro style cover)

For Private and retrogametalk use, as this is my personal emulator covers I make for myself. I only share and post here.
Heheheh… BEHOLD!!

Decided to take a quick break and try it on my Analogue Pocket just now. It works very smoothly so far, only played a few minutes but it booted up fine, controls worked well, and the sound output is all perfect too. I was playing it directly off the SD card, but I assume it would also work well on real hardware via a flashcart. Thanks for sharing!

Very good music in this one, to beat some puzzles you need to know some of the weird stuff seasons/ages do.
Cane of Somaria has quite a few hidden uses to gain access to some areas and to beat the change every colour room in the hidden gold moon dungeon

here are the ending art screens if you want to adapt them for box art not sure how to spoiler them but feel free to delete if you want to get to the end yourself
I'm really hoping this ending art isn't AI. Though i could be completely wrong, i dont want to jump to any conclusions

Im assuming Gambatte doesnt work?
Does it work on real hardware through flashcart?
Gambatte works fine. In fact probably all GBC emulators as long as they aren't archaically outdated should work fine.

This works fine in flashcarts like the EZ Flash and Everdrive ones. Also works fine with the GBC emulator for DS/DSi called gameyob.

Maybe I shouldn't have put that in the description. It'll just cause confusion

7 weeks in photoshop, absolutely no AI
Thanks, but I was kinda hoping for something that wasn't just pixel graphics. Something that would actually look like official boxart. I could have made that too using a GBC box template and Photoshop, but I decided not to.
