I'd do absolutely heinous acts for a new Colony Wars game.
Sad fact to think about yes. How much content is dropped, not just in games we love, but games that were bad because of tough development times. Or thinking about how a good game could've been even better.i think the best thing to help ff8 is to add in a better tutorial to the junction system. i watched a video going over it and once it's explained to you, it makes sense, but the tutorial just makes it confusing. i don't think i even bothered with it for the few hours that i played the game back in the 2000's. i went through that and i was like: "... i have no idea what just happened and i have several questions."
i ended up dropping the game and played 7 and 9.
the original notes and stuff need to be found and used in a full, from the ground up remake so the game has a chance to show off what it was supposed to be.
ff8 was supposed to be 8 discs. it is 4 at release. everyone lost out on a lot of stuff.
from what i remember: you equip a spell to a stat, and then it gets a power boost from it. get more of that spell, the boost is bigger. i did learn that several years ago, so i might not be remembering it right,I am sure the junction system is genious (if you get it), maybe I'm just not smart enough, or my brain is so deeply rooted in the "traditional" MP system that I have a hard time converting/adjusting. The game has tried to explain it, and my favorite youtuber has tried to explain it, but if you can make me see the light I'd appreciate it :-) I'll hit you up next time I pop the game in! Also don't worry about the "nerd over the shoulder"-thing. There's a big difference between helping and backseat gaming ;-)
Sadly yes, a lot was lost. Junction was so radical that is really should have been better explained, and not hidden in archaic notes (that I hardly bothered to read). I was busy playing the game, not reading notes that I didn't even knew were there. I don't think I read all of Selphie's "Sir Laguna" pages either.i think the best thing to help ff8 is to add in a better tutorial to the junction system. i watched a video going over it and once it's explained to you, it makes sense, but the tutorial just makes it confusing. i don't think i even bothered with it for the few hours that i played the game back in the 2000's. i went through that and i was like: "... i have no idea what just happened and i have several questions."

Yes, that is all true. In addition, different spells add differing amounts of power. A basic Fire spell for example with add less when say "junctioned" or allocated to your magic slot than an Ultima would.from what i remember: you equip a spell to a stat, and then it gets a power boost from it. get more of that spell, the boost is bigger. i did learn that several years ago, so i might not be remembering it right,
There was a whole bunch of in-game lore and info. in the "Tutorial" section in your main menu. It felt like a garbage dump consisting of half-baked character lore and confusing menus. It also had these trigger entries of sorts where entries would be added upon speaking to certain characters. Some of it wouldn't show if all dialogue options weren't exhausted at times. But the game never let you know if you got any of it or not! A whole bunch of it was cut prior to release.there were notes in the game?
Sure, I would love to try and help. I tried to reply to this post, but sent it to MasterEn instead. Sorry! This is my first forum I haven't solely stalked.I am sure the junction system is genious (if you get it), maybe I'm just not smart enough, or my brain is so deeply rooted in the "traditional" MP system that I have a hard time converting/adjusting. I loved FF8, I can't resist chiming in: Junctioning really is just "Set spells to increase stats." Generally, the rarer/higher-level the spell, the bigger the increase.I am sure the junction system is genious (if you get it), maybe I'm just not smart enough, or my brain is so deeply rooted in the "traditional" MP system that I have a hard time converting/adjusting. huh. that's the kind of stuff that i would read or listen to in my 20's; i did that with metal gear solid peace walker. but i don't think i ever talked to most npcs in games. i never knew about the machop trade in gold and silver until i was helping my aunt out with her playthrough of the game. i think botw was the first time i actively sought out npcs to talk to.There was a whole bunch of in-game lore and info. in the "Tutorial" section in your main menu.
