What if you could get a sequel to a game you love, like a game you feel is highly underrated and you feel there would have been so much potential to build on, plus for that IP to stay relevant... in exhange for the erasure of an already existing sequel you also love?

Like if I wanted Banjo-Threeie but then had to give up Crash Bandicoot 3.

Only rule is that the game you want a sequel for, must be for a game that currently has no hopes of getting one, or where there have been talks of a sequel here and there, but nothing has ever come of it.

Interesting topic, there's quite many. But for now, mine would be Half Life 3 and Super Mario Galaxy 3, I'll sacrifice Ratchet and Clank 3 and Uncharted 3

I would kill the Spyro franchise altogether for Banjo-Threeie.

I'm fucking brutal.

MMSF2 does, but MMSF3 is easily the best of the three in terms of gameplay.
good to hear that the gameplay is good at the end; concerning about the 2nd game. i have these on my list to play. is the story good for these two games or is it so-so?

why kill the franchise? why not join them together?

If I have to give up a game I really love, is it even worth it? Maybe...
I'll give it a shot.

As much as I loved getting Metroid Dread, I'd give it up for a new Legacy of Kain.

As much as I loved Mass Effect 2, I'd make the deal if we got Xenogears 2 instead.

And for Chrono Trigger 2 (if it were good!) I'd pay a high price... I'd give up a game I really enjoyed a lot -- Tears of the Kingdom.

I would destroy 5th entry of any game ever for Quake 5(mainline full game, no remakes like Quake Live or online only spin-offs, they don't count)
Mainly because my favorite games are either franchises that don't need a 5th entry or that their 5th entry are inferior from the games i like from that franchise.
I'm yet again shilling Quake and ArenaFPS, and i won't be stopped

Final Fantasy 8-2 for Final Fantasy 7 any

I would do horrible, despicable things to see Project Diva comes back. Anything short of DMC3 or SF3 Third Strike is gone.

The first game has the best story.

I've heard that a lot of people are mixed on the game. what parts did you enjoy the most about totk?
It was just fun. It put a smile on my face constantly.
Let me try to be more specific.

I really enjoyed BotW because it made me feel like a kid going out and exploring new places. It was all about exploration and discovery, with fun puzzles to do around every corner. Every problem had multiple ways to solve it, and it was very fun to figure out a roundabout way to do something that didn't feel intended but nevertheless totally worked because the game "physics" just allowed anything that seemed like it should work to work. Not that it didn't have flaws, but overall it was very very fun for me.

TotK was like returning to that world and being rewarded for having learned my way around, but at the same time things were slightly different and it felt fresh while new areas kept opening up that made me realize the world was a lot bigger. There was more enemy variety, one thing I wished BotW had. Weapons also did not break as fast and it seemed like the new system for fusing weapons made the whole thing way more fun. Coming up with new weapons strategies for different situations was fun. But with all the new contraptions they introduced, you could build anything. It felt like my imagination was the only limiting factor. So everything I said about BotW was turned up a notch or three. I just had a blast discovering new stuff, and I'm so so glad I didn't spoil myself by looking up videos until long after I had put hundreds of hours into the game. I spent so many hours just trying to build random things I imagined (with varying degrees of success).

The narrative was your typical Zelda fairy tale type story. I totally understand if people think its too kiddy. But growing up on Zelda, it just feels timeless to me. The characters are hit and miss; some are hilarious or badass and others are weird or just downright off-putting. But the gameplay is, to me, outstanding. 10/10 I would get lost in that version of Hyrule again.
Damn, would I really give it up for a Chrono Trigger 2? I feel like I'm talking myself out of the deal now :ROFLMAO:

hmm, that's a bit similar to how i feel about botw and totk. i disagree on the story, but it is quite fun to explore the land of hyrule. i found the king of hyrule's house on the great plateau on the start of my third playthrough. no idea how i missed it twice, but i did find i eventually. the depths were fun to explore, but i was disappointed on not finding at least one underground village or town. would have been a fun reference to oracle of seasons.
you could always pick a different zelda game to put on the sacrifice alter. i know what the original paster stated, but they don't need to know the little unimportant details. :)

I'd trade Sonic Mania for Klonoa 3.
Please Namco i just want a new Klonoa game instead of shitty anime arena fighters.

Sadly I can´t give up a squeal I like. But I gladly give up squeals I hate.
That's why I thought it was an interesting topic. It's easy enough to throw something out you don't like, but what if there was a sequel you longed for so bad, you could convince yourself to give up something else dear to you.

Mine above was just an example, so to join in the conversation I'd give up Darksiders 3 for Another Code 3 (or whatever subtitle it would have). Darksiders 3 was a buggy mess at launch I hear, but I really enjoyed it and it only deepened my love for the franchise, after I honestly never finished DS2 due to burnout. Another Code though... I know we got the sloppy remake... but what I wouldn't give to see that series continue and resolve its cliffhangers.

By the way, I know the deal is equivalent exchange, but for my sake it doesn't strictly have to be "third installment for third installment" or whatever.

THIS!!! I know Mania was a great game because it was made by fans who knew tf they were doing... but Sonic's overall trackrecord is so damn spotty I'd easily exchange everything after Heroes for the Klonoa franchise to get new life.

I would LOOOOOVE to beat the first FF8, and I have tried several time... but I just can't seem to wrap my head around that damn junction system. This isn't me being like everyone who shits on the cardgame in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. I have tried, and I genuinely WANT to get into it, but it's like we are just not compatible ?

OK, I've had an idea!

I'll give up 7th Dragon 2020-II, since it's almost the same as the first game, for a Xenogears 2 ::thinking ::thumbsupwario::thumbsupwario::thumbsupwario::thumbsupwario

::biggrin

In response to your Junction System comment: It's actually at the top of what I love about that game the most- the sheer amount of customization. The magic system using integers instead of MP brings me back to FF3 (Famicom FF3) or Famicom FF2. It's actually a brillant trick in the way that you can make yourself godlike or not, based on how and what spells you junction. I'm currently playing a Doomtrain kernal modded version, where I limited what abilities can progress within my GFs, and changed spells all around in a way where some are only useful as junctions and do no damage when casted. I even got rid of the Esuna spell.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the junction system. If you want help/advice in that regard, let me know. I don't want to be that nerd over your shoulder though while you may still feel like you're slamming fingers in a door.

Would happily see something like Dark Souls 3 disappear if it meant they'd make a new Gihren's Greed game that also got an official english translation.

i think the best thing to help ff8 is to add in a better tutorial to the junction system. i watched a video going over it and once it's explained to you, it makes sense, but the tutorial just makes it confusing. i don't think i even bothered with it for the few hours that i played the game back in the 2000's. i went through that and i was like: "... i have no idea what just happened and i have several questions."
i ended up dropping the game and played 7 and 9.
the original notes and stuff need to be found and used in a full, from the ground up remake so the game has a chance to show off what it was supposed to be.
ff8 was supposed to be 8 discs. it is 4 at release. everyone lost out on a lot of stuff.

I am sure the junction system is genious (if you get it), maybe I'm just not smart enough, or my brain is so deeply rooted in the "traditional" MP system that I have a hard time converting/adjusting. The game has tried to explain it, and my favorite youtuber has tried to explain it, but if you can make me see the light I'd appreciate it :-) I'll hit you up next time I pop the game in! Also don't worry about the "nerd over the shoulder"-thing. There's a big difference between helping and backseat gaming ;-)
