The hell they say !%#$ me for?

Friday the 13th for NES was a great idea that needed some additional work to make it better. But even in its default state, it still was enjoyable at times, giving you some sense of horror when randomly fighting Jason.

Batman for NES gets unfairly lumped in with the stereotype that all licensed games sucked before the PS2 era, and all Batman games sucked before Arkham Asylum. It was a fully competent entry in the subgenre of Ninja Gaiden-like games, in some ways improving on it (such as with the wall jump mechanics).

Super Mario Advance (GBA) — Plenty of people hate the voice acting and the gimmicky graphic changes. I think it all has a nice charm to it, though, and it's nice to see Nintendo go back and further update a really old entry in their library with new content.

Spider-man & Venom: Maximum Carnage (SNES & SG) — It has a cult following now, but it was hated at the time. No other game had directly adapted a comic book story or used new original songs by a famous band before. (Yes, Sonic 3 had MJ uncredited, but Green Jellÿ put their name on this game.)
