The Anime/Manga Recommendations Thread

How many of these are OVAs, or single season mini-series? Like what @HYEROS posted..

I've seen Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Vampire Hunter (D), and I even own a Special Edition copy of Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. I loved every single one of those. I just do not want to have to invest in a multi-season long anime ala Bleach or One Piece, etc..

I'm also the opposite of a "pearl-clutcher." I'm not offended by simple fan service, or more extreme stuff like Redo of a Healer.. As long as there's an actual compelling story and decent animation..

If you wanna watch something hardcore I'd recommend A KITE. Two episode long OVA that's pretty violent and raunchy but it's a fun watch I'd say

Black Lagoon, if no one else has recommended it, is a great series with a good story. I would put it in alongside the likes of Trigun or Cowboy Bebop...

Also, Revy takes no shit and gives no fucks

Loved the anime, haven't read the manga.

Give it a try. I think if you love the anime, you will love the manga. I personally re-read it every now and then.

Ninja Scroll is the greatest anime movie of all time.

Sailor Moon (original series, stay away from Crystal and VIZ) best anime show of all time.

THE DINNER TABLE DETECTIVE

^^^ that trailer is subtitled but the show does have a dubbed version which is what I watched, I just couldn’t find a dubbed trailer. The show was great, the only thing I didn’t like about it was how the two main characters would annoyingly yell at times when they are frustrated. It happens in a lot of anime’s but this one was a little more frequent. Overall though it’s great.


CALL OF THE NIGHT

^^^ you can also watched this one dubbed. I just recently started watching so I’m early in the series but it’s been great so far. I’m a night owl so I felt I could relate.

I recommend Beastars. It gets a bad rap because of a couple bordering-on-nsfw scenes between a couple of the characters early on in the series (and also being a furry manga/anime). If you can get past that though it’s a pretty interesting series that tackles some heavy themes and also has some really great opening and ending music.
