Switch Switch 2 Nintendo Direct 4.2.2025

DK looks okay. It definitely looks more like Mario Odyssey 2 than an actual DK game which sucks but it doesn't look horrible. Air Riders was an expected announcement. Mario Kart Worlds is pretty standard and tbh not exciting to me at all.

DuskBloods was unexpected but also at the same time... it's a multiplayer focused fromsoftware game on a nintendo console... Nintendo who are known to shut their servers down the second they stop caring. Nintendo, the worst online experience in gaming.

The fact that there was a total of THREE port Third Party reels was pretty telling too. They're relying entirely on brand here just like they did with the Wii U.

I'm more interested in the ripples Switch 2 can cause on the portable PC market. Forcing the release of more powerful models and specially price cuts on current models.
This aged well. Games being 80 dollars USD was not expected but a pretty huge and comical plot twist.

Money is gonna be better spent on Steam Deck 2. I'll wait. I'm genuinely just amazed how nintendo fumbled this so bad with their post direct announcements.

Mario Kart Worlds and Bananza look fun but not really system sellers. Too many damn ports. No OLED is pretty insane at that price point, and $80 games don't exactly sweeten the pot. Pretty lame showing overall but GameCube virtual console is cool I guess.

And that box art template is ass, quite frankly. Red banner on red case? C'mon dawg. The Switch cases looked so elegant.

TBH I'm not even worried about "system sellers" at this point. I don't care if it's another Wii U or Ouya situation as long as the games/service is good. and Nintendo's service has not been it for years now.

I was burned pretty bad by just their stark drop in quality and the way they did post launch DLC really put me off. I liked nintendo because they didn't do post launch stuff like that and now they do, so I'm just kinda eh. Plus the 80 dollar price tag. The SIXTY dollar price tag for games like MK8 and Pikmin 3 DX turned me off bad. This is just like, I wasn't expecting anything and I'm still disappointed.

That genuinely looks like a poor crop XD

The $80 price tag doubly stings because first-party games rarely go on sale, and when they do it's like 30% off at best. AND you don't even "own" the game on the card now. It's complete nonsense. I hope their DRM backfires as hard as the Dreamcast GD-ROM and we get ez piracy within months.

This S2 will flop like wiiu, Nothing standout, too expensive for kids, casual, phone gamers.
Too weak/expensive handheld for core gamers steam/pc.
Gameover N.

They could make next handheld systemseller if:
With big Real 3D hd display gyro, kindoff VR experience/control without all VR glasses/controller hassle, for like games Metroid Prime remaster and all 3ds 3dgames would be perfect!

Those oldfashion stiff engineers carsellers are outdated from 70s, where Miyamoto was a hipster.

BANANA SLAMMA

Real Talk though: I assumed the upgrades would be paid, but they were coy to not tell us if they were going to be discounted if you already own the game or not.

Thankfully for me personally, I don't really own any of those games aside from BotW, and I put off playing Tears of the Kingdom specifically to gamble it getting an upgrade for Switch 2.
The direct did say the upgrades could be purchased with the old versions, knowing nintendo tho there's probably only going to be like a 50 percent discount for the upgrade with an old game.
