Supply and demand, or worship a brand?

Eh, we'll be putting our food down soon enough, too.

No, nobody with half a brain is going to blame piracy. Economists and business analysts have already said that the Switch 2 is likely to fail in the US because the price of all electronics are going to balloon before it launches. Everyone in the industry knows this, everyone paying attention knows this, and its been in the news so much that only lunatics will blame piracy. And the rest of the gaming industry will suffer along with Nintendo with the possible exception of Steam.

Can't really comment on that further, as per forum rules. But if you do anything that involves purchasing electronics and the like, you should know that this is what is projected to happen soon.
For sure, especially in the USA. But then that means demand dropping as a result of this, which means companies may drop prices to compete, unless it feeds all resources especially silicone in to AI initiatives alone, but even that bubble may pop soon.

I know china is doing all it can to hedge this in some way, as this is why they released Deep Seek as opensource, and are making a push with companies such as minisforum to release affordable products to users in the west, but then it may come down to tax on said products.

The landscape is changing, and while we cannot speak on the politics, we can at least look at the playing field and what improvements we can lobby towards, in all parts of the world, towards not only game preservation, but better business and sustainable growth on both the customer and the company sides.

RE: food ref, 100%, but this i why on that note homestead and buying simpler foods and cooking ones own meals may have to be the way forward.

On the note on piracy and using this as an excuse, they will always claim this, even if it is stupid! why?

1) optics,
2) they may have allowed losses related to it / insurance to claim on it. Just like the whole idea of data loss, rather then admit incompetence, (i have proved this for companies i have pen tested for, and signed nondisclosure for), will claim "data breach" and "hack", and hide the evidence.

This goes back before the tarriffs though, just saying.

It's been coming even before the last 3 presidents, the cause is related to the 2008 global financial crisis and specifically, the fact nothing has changed since then.

It's not "just" the usa, alot of people keep trying to blame tarriffs for this but the truth is this has been coming since 2008 and we've seen signs ever since the pandemic, we've just kicked the can down the road until now.

Oh for sure, but do note i said "For sure, especially in the USA", meaning i am not saying only the USA, may be my bad writing style, i will refine this.

But indeed, the existing dept that has continued to grow is a massive factor also, and while i will not mention the reasons why, focusing on what we see in front of us is important, as we cannot change the past, only where we go from here.

So lets keep working the problems, what can we do with the problems now, there is no silver bullet, but we can still work it and address things as they come.

There's some chance that they might drop the price for electronics, but I doubt it. So many games never get released outside Japan, and even consoles sometimes don't make it in some forms. And that's under optimal conditions. I don't think it's likely that companies will want to drop prices by 20-50% just to make sales in an unreasonable market.

As it stands, many companies are likely to drop the US market, with the additional possibility of whole countries doing so. They can always shore up their efforts elsewhere and make up for the loss that way. After all, there are plenty of emerging markets to sell to.

The piracy excuse won't fix anything. They can't use it for optics because everyone knows what's going on, and it doesn't work too well for new consoles. It would be a hard sell even for insurance.

As for food, individualist methods won't work all that well. Anything that involves running away from the situation does not solve it, especially since others will be abandoned.

Yes, things have been bad, but it's accelerating now. Allow the cost of living to balloon, keep wages down, then add on removing regulations and ballooning sales taxes (as well as threats to basic economic safety nets that we have yet to see the damage to), and everything that isn't a necessity is going to fail. Half of that was already a problem; the other half has only recently been introduced. And we can't solve the first half when we're too busy fighting the second half, along with all the other problems that came with it.
