About

This is a active project aiming to translate to english the main story of Super Robot Taisen Alpha for Dreamcast, because of my lack of knowledge, for now my only focus is the main story.

Progress

Strategy Style (Missions where you see your mechas): Completed up to Chapter 8, Super Robot Route.

VN Style (Visual novel type gameplay were you only see the character and texbox): Completed up to Chapter 8. Super Robot Route.

Dialogue lines inserted: 3731 in total for now.

AI Transparency

The dialogues are translated using Claude, but checked manually.

Texture Replacement (Optional)

Because my lack of knowledge to point were the menus and interfaces of the game, I decided to try a workaround, its not ideal but its better than nothing.

Currently translation with textures.

Unit accion menu (Move, spirits, transform, etc)

Strategy style menu (Phase end, system, quick save)

Some images at the beginning of the game with lore.

The first wall of text.

Text in the map screen, see last screenshot.

I'm currently looking for more textures that can be used.

Patch

You can find here a bps patch created automatically by the tool and a Xdelta created by me.

Apply the one you like to the track03.bin of Super Robot Taisen Alpha for Dreamcast v1.016 (2001)(Banpresto)(JP)[!][1M1]

Thank you for the love put into the detail of getting the names correctly. I shudder to think what AI would have done to words like Kikaiju from the universe of Mazinger Z.

Mechanical Beast or Mecha Beast, that's how the IA named them before I instructed it directly to translate like this, I think that the oficial name Mecha Best right now is from enemies in the Getter series.

In the anime adaptation of Getter Robo, they're denounced as Mechasaurus, and created from the Dinosaur Empire. I double checked the lineup for SRT a and it's the original Getter Robo and it's sequel G, so that's Mechasaurs.

Disappointing to see more AI translations for such a great game. It's really simple to use LunaTL guys, you don't have to trust the hallucination machines.

Aren't the Kikaiju the Steel/Mecha Beasts that battle Mazinger Z? Hence why Baron Ashura is referring to one in the photo?

But yes, I also agree that the Mechasaurus are some of the baddies for Getter Robo.

It was Metal Beast, I remember that the name was somewhat metallic, they appear in SRW 30.

This is for Getter Robo Go, which is a different universe altogether for Getter Robo. I should have corrected myself that in G, the Dinosaur Empire was wiped out and from then on they used the Hundred Demon Empire with the Mecha Oni. This also is the case for SRW 30 as they primarily used Getter Robo Armageddon as their source material where the enemies are named Invaders, and then there's Devolution in the DLC, which they didn't use the counterparts for the enemies found in that either.

To clarify:
Getter Robo (1974) uses Mechasaurs
Getter Robo G (1975) uses Mecha Oni
Shin Getter Robo (manga) serves as an interquel between Getter Robo G & Getter Robo Go. I haven't read Shin Getter yet, so you might need someone more learned about that then I.

SRT Alpha 1 uses Getter Robo, Getter Robo G, and Shin Getter Robo (the manga.)

Yep they are for the original Mazinger Z, but for the last episode, Koji faces off against the Great Emperor of Darkness' Battle Beasts and saved by Great Mazinger. I'm not sure how much SRT Alpha adapts of those two entries though.
