Strange modern phenomenons

I have no issues personally discussing these kinds of things. I mean it's real! ... but it also potentially is used to create division between people. I don't sense that this was your intention though. It is depressing to put too much focus on such things b.c so much is outside of our ability to control. That's where video games come in to save the day! ESCAPISM for the win. It's a shame but the short of it is that people are just becoming shittier to each other; more intolerant, more ignorant, more entitled and just plain ol' nastier. This sort of mass-behavioral modification is being encouraged and exploited by a certain group who wants people to continue fighting at any cost b.c that's how the ruling class has maintained control throughout the centuries ... and it's always worked.
Yeah, one way or the other. The reason I like this place is that people are way more chill than the internet average. I myself had no intention to participate at first, but look at it now, haha.
I hope you feel welcome here.

Thank you. I feel welcome here too. It's a breath of fresh air to meet people who are laid back about stuff and respectful. Definitely not the norm these days. I hope this community gets a chance to grow into something beautiful.

It took me a hot minute to realize your pfp is an edit with Denam, haha.

Yea it's a scarface Tactics Ogre mash up. It's something I never knew I needed until I saw it hah
I guess you could rightfully say "Say hello to my little friends!" when starting combat.

Oh most certainly will try next play-through! I've only put about 3000+ hours into Tactics Ogre so far so I have room to grow. haha. Unfortunately I have a recessive Spicy-italian attitude so I don't think either or Denam would be able to pull it off properly...

So, the crucial question: Reborn or One Vision?

Oh I am a huge fan of the UI and rpg elements of the PSP version so I'm One Vision all the way. I feel like it is far more in-depth, has better character building in its role playing progression and characters feel more customizable along with all the other nuts and bolts of the mod really hitting those jrpg sweet spots... I feel like Reborn was good but it felt more like a cell phone game to me. The cards that you pick up on the battlefield do add some tactical agency to battles but it also just feels weird and doesn't really feel very balanced or nuanced. I hate how leveling is gated by chapter. I mean it's still Tactics Ogre and it's one of the best games ever made but reborn feels like it was a near-miss instead of a sure-thing. I platinumed it but it feels like it lost a bit of what made the psp version so special. They smoothed over those wonderful, beautiful character sprites and thus lost a lot of detail and character b.c of it. The rpg elements were largely scrapped in favor of a system that was more tactical. I get why they did it like that to appeal to a newer generation that doesn't really have the patience to spend hundreds of hours in a game. I actually thought Unicorn Overlord was more my style if I'm to be honest...

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. It really seems TO exists in two camps now, with veterans largely preferring One Vision. I believe a new version just came out by the way.

Ooh no kidding? I will check it out for sure. I am wondering how many new features might be involved

I don't know if everyone knows this, but on Reddit you can give a custom reaction by paying a sum of money. I always thought that part of the money also went to the creator of the content, but in reality all the money goes into Reddit's pocket and the recipient of the reaction gets absolutely nothing...

Reddit lol. I am going off of social media, apart from communities like this one. It's all evil af and its only use seems to be to make me feel absolutely miserable.
Yeah, I think Reddit is bullshit too, but I'll be honest, as a poison it's the least bad of its 'colleagues' currently on the market.

For years, I thought Reddit was the rightful successor to represent next-generation forums, but just like in 'The Truman Show', at some point I realized that the horizon was just a painted blue wall and some stage props also started to collapse to the ground, to thus reveal all the real flaws of the platform.

Personally, what really frustrates me is the lack of a page divider, because without it, reading the archived discussions is almost impossible in a popular and constantly growing group, because at a certain point the web browser just 'explodes' from the overload and kicks you out with nothing to show for it.

On top of that, sections are not properly labeled (in some groups they don’t even exist) and this makes Reddit feel more like a successor to Yahoo! Answers rather than anything else.

Today's SNS are completely defective objects, which do not truly allow you to achieve your purpose.

Netizen 'Hello, I would like to use your products. Is that possible?'.

Facebook 'Yes, but you won’t find what you signed up for on your feed, but only what I like and what you should also become addicted to.

The pages you follow are not good enough, because even if they don’t violate any rules, they don’t publish the quantity and on the days we say and we are not willing to pay to promote this, because it should be them paying us
'.

X and Instagram 'Most of the readers are just miserable NPC lurkers, so if you interact by giving reactions and shares, you are definitely a bot, therefore, your profile is now blocked until further notice. Thank you anyway for using our service'.

Reddit 'I allow adult material, but I have no filters on my feed to choose if on that particular day a user wants only information. Here therefore are all the new photos and videos from OnlyFans profiles for today! Anyway, I am actually not the successor to the old forums at all'.

4 Chan 'For us freedom also means allowing the lack of discipline, hate and misinformation (that has been scientifically debunked for years), to continue spreading and thriving for the rest of your lives'".

I honestly don't get the whole thing with people disliking Reddit. The user base at least. It seems like you'd have to get very involved to have a problem with mods or the community. People cite problems that happen everywhere else as if they make Reddit special. Reddit is like the only big platform you can get a real answer to a question or good results for queries.

The digitization and lack of physicality of objects that represent and express various subcultures is a weird thing. As we know from the fact that we buy "licenses" to games that could be revoked at the whims of the corporations owning them. This bleeds into a ton of other things than just video games and it makes it very easy to turn a big portion of human experience into an easy to edit and erase commodity cycle. The zeitgeist of an era is taken out of the hands of spontaneous human behavior and put into the hands of a machine that domesticates and eats our passions then shits out media "content" facsimiles. Conveniently apparently our attention spans are shrinking so we won't notice soon.

The destruction of people's attention span is the most worrying thing I've seen in a while. Even I fall prey to the brainrot 10 second videos in every platform; though I try to stay away as much as I can it seems to be the norm now to watch 10 second videos for an hour.

It honestly shocks me how people react to being shown kindness nowadays, as if they expected strings to be attached to every little thing.

I don't know what kind of world we are running here, but I'm not a fan of people being openly wary of someone else taking two minutes off their life to show them how to get somewhere or helping them in a pinch (hell, even something as simple as stepping aside or letting them go before me in a line is reacted to with either exaggerated thankfulness or some sort of fear).

For this very reason I have defined it as 'the least bad poison' or as 'Yahoo Answers 2', although one of the problems I have encountered, and which can be extended to the list of 'strange modern phenomena' in general, concerns the problem that active groups seem like radicalized magnets, which act either in a positive way (blind idealism) or always in a negative one (dishonest haters).

It is as if all the active users were just narcissists who always and only act in a single direction without ever questioning themselves. For example I have great difficulties speaking in Michael Jackson groups, because the moderation only wants him to be spoken of well; one can never discuss mistakes or doubts and I am not even talking about the parodied version that journalists sold to the public over the years regarding his sexuality, but things like addiction to narcotics, discrepancies between the public and the private persona, actions that could have been carried out better and so on.

I tried to close my eyes, but in the end, these people slowly extinguished my desire to contribute to making their communities active.

People jaywalking across the street looking at their phones or riding bicycles with headphones on listening to music. Or people who deliberately walk behind your vehicle intentionally so they can get injured and sue you. People barking on the phone while driving as well.

What a cruel world we live in...

What are some of the odd things that affect society nowadays that you find difficult to logically understand or justify?

For me, what comes to mind most strongly is how the internet created this odd tendency of people wanting to desperately share any and all kinds of minutia that pertain their lives.

I can sort of understand WHY it happens: people want attention, views, validation... but it still baffles my mind that a human being would so easily open up details about themselves to countless unknowns literally across the globe.

I'm probably old fashioned and shut in by nature, but yeah.
Been using the internet since the late 90s so I always grew up on the mindset of do not post any personal info online. Really baffles me how willing everyone is these days to plaster their full name, face, state or city they live in, and a shitload of other personal detail. My mom does this then wonders why her bank account keeps hacked cause she does not understand how easy it is for people to obtain all the info they need solely from her facebook to guess her password.
