For anyone wondering, I just think that Stardew Valley has everything a farming sim needs, it was made during a time where the genre was pretty much stagnant, so Concerned Ape (dev) pretty much went ham with adding things that he knew people loved about games like Harvest Moon and Rune Factory, while adding A LOT of quality of life and new additions. The oversaturation of farming sims we have now it's because SV was just that good, and everybody wanted a little bit of that, or to mix up the formula a little.
But in all honestly, if you're ever going to play only one farming sim, SV is your way to go, it's the most complete experience to this day, with more free updates in the works and a very active community, Concerned Ape even supports and encourages the use of mods and the Wiki.
I recently started playing, I've been following the development ever since before the wiki even existed, but I still want to do everything as blind as possible with the knowledge I have in other games like Harvest Moon.
For people wondering how to start, I recommend you simply go with the flow, but plan ahead, a lot of people find the time management (and Excel grind planning) very rewarding, even if you take things slow getting money to unlock more stuff is key so try to do as much work as you can every day (without overworking yourself). If you have problems consult the wiki, even seasoned players do.
I understand this isn't a genre for everyone, but for the ones that it clicks with it's a very rewarding gameplay loop.
