What do you think of adding spoiler tags to generally NSFW content?

There has been a gradually growing number of generally NSFW images that have been posted on profile walls and elsewhere in the last few months, and it was recently suggested by a number of Users that lewd or sexually explicit art and imagery be covered by spoiler tags to hide this type of content from Users who do not wish to see it.

RGT has a wide age demographic, and some of these images aren't suitable for younger audiences, and many other Users simply do not wish to see this kind of content when browsing the forums or recommending the site to others.

We have tried to be more relaxed about Rule #7. The general rule of thumb being "if you'd see it down at the beach, then it's fine". But of course, people will still try to push the envelope as to what they can get away with.
On the other hand, these images are often impressive displays or artistry and creativity, and they have their audience.

What are your feelings on the idea?

I myself am generally in favour of the suggestion, but I have reservations: I believe people will use this as an opportunity to push boundaries further, and post even more explicit content than has already been permitted. If this happens, rule #7 will likely be enforced harder, and warnings will be issued more freely. After all, this site is a celebration of video games, not pornography.

Yes, please enforce #7 harder. If this picked up, then certain people will use the new tags to their advantage. (But not GL.a.D.O.S., she's awesome.)

"enforce it but except one individual"
what.

I like the way it is. If we enforce number #7 harder, then what can or cannot be considered in a spoiler tag? Would depend on who ever was the mod atm or even their mood. Honestly adds more work, than it already needs to be.

I couldn't have said it better, I've engaged with these kinds of posts but never posted risqué or intentionally NSFW images on them, and moreso memes to engage in what's funny about doing so. I don't know if I worded that correctly.

As one of the users who suggested the idea I'm in complete agreement about it, as I feel really bad for the users who want to make use of the profile posting feature or engage with it constantly get discouraged with these types of graphic posts. I want to have good faith in the people who do engage in these posts as through experience they're incredibly chill people.

Hopefully this idea also relaxes the workload the mods and the lovely foremen behind this website working laboriously to keep this site clean and pristine, and allows RGT to grow and be advertised and demonstrates it does perfectly what it set out to be.

Some situations are completely fine to be scrolling by the more graphic imagery, but we can't pick and choose these at all times, and for the many users who have to engage in work and worry about co-workers and bosses looking over their shoulders I think it's a step in the right direction.

I'm thinking about it more, and I also believe an idea that can be up for debate is for all users who want to engage in these kinds of posts can create a sort of group DM since this site allows for that - where people who willingly want to participate in this kind of stuff is freely allowed to do so. That also gives users the ability to freely access that DM group whenever they please and avoid uncomfortable situations.

The group DM can be advertised to spread the word for all that's interested too but not further.

Things need to change. And I say that the tags are needed.

This is a fair point. I would suggest characters dressed in beach wear, lingerie or clothing that only barely covers nipples and genitalia (including translucent material) should be spoiler tagged. I think implementing spoiler tags would result in a tonne more NSFW stuff being posted, or maybe it might just feel that way at first. It would be something that has to be rode out. I guess the warnings would then be issued more freely to those who (repeatedly) didn't spoiler tag such imagery. And yes, mods having to chase after posts to add missing spoiler tags would mean extra work. Not ideal.

This is a good idea. Maybe we could make a widely advertised invite-only group to share NSFW content. It would still require some degree of moderation though, as bad actors may use it as an opportunity to post extremely explicit material, which we don't want hosted in any way on this platform, be it via DM's or otherwise (you know what I'm referring to).

I was thinking of exactly that. I think this would neatly solve the problem that other users have with lewd images ::nyamcoawards

This is a fair point. I would suggest designs in beach wear or lingerie should be spoiler tagged. I think implementing spoiler tags would result in a tonne more NSFW stuff being posted, or maybe it might just feel that way at first. It would be something that has to be rode out. I guess the earnings would then be issued more freely to those who (repeatedly) didn't spoiler tag such imagery. And yes, mods having to chase after people and adding spoiler tags for people would mean extra work. Not ideal.

I feel that its a double-edged sword, that will make things just more work heavy then it already is. But from the last 2 times the rules had to change for NSFW people just left, so who knows how it will turn out.

Couldn't you add a spoiler tag to what you would already post anyway? Just asking.

Kamako, Neb (And many other people) draw lewd stuff. And most of their stuff gets past the censors.

Yeah, some might feel like pushing the boundaries with this feature. But still it's better than nothing. The rules should be pretty clear about no nsfw imagery, as in nude or sexual acts. Lewd is permitted as long as it doesn't enter the ones mentioned before

I did but for the most part it gets deleted regardless if it was sfw or nsfw in the art section. Since I came back, Ive been lucky so far

It doesn't get past us, there are many very talented artists on RGT who draw or appreciate NSFW art and imagery.
It's permissable because there's genuine artistic value, but the problem is that it's not something that everyone wants to see.
This is just an attempt at having a conversation about it and testing the waters, trying to find possible solutions, not an excuse to point fingers and air personal grievances.

I do agree with you. But, I'm not in the mood to point fingers at anyone.

For the record I don't post my drawings on my profile ever since it gets wiped off, so I just post on the art section. Unfinished doodles is something i try to post on my profile tho ::peacemario

What do you think of adding a stickied invite to a private group DM in the Art section where everyone can share NSFW content? It would hopefully reduce the number of public NSFW images to be contended with whilst enabling folks to post NSFW to their heart's content?

Can probably work, doesn't hurt to try and see if it works out. ::peacemario

Ok great. Progress!
Do you mind taking the lead to create the group DM, leave it as an open invitation and then create a new NSFW thread in the Art sub-forum?

I can then sticky it, lock it and update Rule #7 to guide people towards the thread.

I agree.
Also, i know Spike is not happy about such contents being posted here at all... you can check his answer to a similar suggestion in the past.

I believe such contents shouldn't be allowed here in the first place.
