Sony Talk and News

Cool. I don’t want that.
We will see as time goes along, but this generation has soured me on Sony’s current management even more than the previous era did. I’m loving my time with my PS5, but I don’t suspect to remain “loyal” into the next generation as it were, especially with the economy and my own future having such a question mark.

It’s easy to be pessimistic, but I’m an optimist by nature. That said, I need to see something to even be optimistic over. Until a console exists and is literally in people’s hands, all I can say is “I’m happy with what I have now.”

I read it too, in this thread, but I'll believe it when I see it. I would not be surprised to see a lot of stuff ambiguously delayed until 2028, at least for the US.

To me any new upgraded Consoles are dead, since PS4 PRO and Xbox One X and not worth it against PC Master Race.
Before consoles was benefit because cheaper hardware and system exclusives games and fast plugnplay.
But modern consoles behave like MAC pc and games are expensive, needs regular long updates and subscriptions and forced systemupdates and waiting before playing and need limited tweaks for performance/visual quality.

On my rtx3080 laptop/55inch TV, I can play former systemexclusives and massive pc gameslog for cheaper, while I can tweak/mod/cheat to my liking with PC games offline.

7 seven years seems about normal for a new gen, but this one has been so slow that it still seems like the ps5 just released. I also thought the ps5 pro to be a big middle finger for their customers. Seeing the performance of games like Demon's Souls, Returnal or R&C Rift Apart one would think the console's potency could still be squeezed.

Personally, after having bought a PC a year ago, I don't think I'll be buying any consoles any time soon. Perhaps switch 2 whenever it drops its price

The interest in the recently introduced Switch 2 is so great: Even Sony now wants to know what PlayStation players think of the upcoming Nintendo console and has started sending out corresponding surveys to its own users. I think the Nintendo Switch 2 will decide if Sony will build a new handheld console.

They are too late jump into bandwagon without system exclusives,
Steamdesk and many PC gamehandhelds Asus, MSI, Leveno, GPD win, anbernic 600 covers the PC games with their former system exclusives is their coffine.

Sony's just throwing feelers out to see what they can get away with, like we knew they would.
This is common actions by corporations in sony's situation, it's not the first time they've laid out a survey like this either i believe.
Also maybe i'm seeing things differently but i've been seeing anything but hype for the switch 2.

The PlayStation Portable – for everyone who thought less power and more accessories would be the true next-gen gaming dream. Almost like the PS5. Only different. The PS5 as a handheld – in miniature! Sony has decided to directly adopt the Nintendo Switch 2 concept. Why not? After all, it is a tried and tested concept that works “okay” at best. This is Sony's answer to the Nintendo Switch 2 what do you think of them?

I think modern handhelds are a little too... bulky to be as portable as they used to be. For me, the novelty of a PSP, GameBoy, or even a DS was the fact that you could just stuff that thing in your pocket when you were done with it and take it out when you were on the train or just had a bit of time to kill.
I have nothing against Steam decks or Switches, but it really feels like the range of portability is really just you're done playing on the big computer and now you want to play on the little computer in bed.

Are we talking about the already released Playstation Portal in the picture, or a hypothetical handheld they're making somewhere down the road?

Sony is apparently planning to imitate Nintendo. I don't think that's good and it also looks like Sony doesn't have any ideas of its own.

Where are the news that state Sony is making a new portable console? or this is just speculating? the question wasn't answered...

There was a Bloomberg report last year that Sony is working on a handheld, it got soft confirmation from some other outlets. There's not really any details, other than it being years away if they actually commit to it.

I don't hate the idea of a new portable playstation, but I am not hopeful either.
