Sony Talk and News

I don't hate the idea of a new portable playstation, but I am not hopeful either.
To add on to why I'm not exactly hopeful, I just don't think its that much of a selling point for consumers compared to the competition.
The Nintendo Switch has many exclusives on it (which Sony lacks in right now) and the Steam Deck is basically a portable gaming PC that allows for a lot of freedom. Maybe it will be good for people who already have a solid library for their ps4/5 (if you can play those games on the portable system) but I don't know.

I think modern handhelds are a little too... bulky to be as portable as they used to be. For me, the novelty of a PSP, GameBoy, or even a DS was the fact that you could just stuff that thing in your pocket when you were done with it and take it out when you were on the train or just had a bit of time to kill.
I think part of it is theyre also just too expensive to be put in a pocket. However, there is stuff like the Miyoo Mini+ which sells for less than $50, and is small enough you can throw it in your pocket or throw it in a bag.

They got this reputation from the Vita. They dropped first party support for it fairly quickly, and it just became a dumping ground for mainly cheap looking, sometimes perverted Japanese RPG dungeon games.
That's because of the PS4.

PS5 came out at a kind of weird time and i think people werent really clear on what it offered... and it was pricey.. and it was difficult to obtain at first.

Here's what i would do if i was sony:

PSP3: "$299"

and then walk off stage

(but what do i know?)

I want a new low powered hand held with hand held focused games. Don't make it a damn hand held Ps4 that I can play last of us in bed. Give me some crunchy polygons that devs can develop for without having to mortgage a whole street to fund.

Also make sure it has lots of perverted Japanese RPG dungeon games.

Oh and give it a gimmick.
Like a crank or a touch screen...

i really like my psp
the psp is great and its robust in that way that it build to last and do not take damage easy
i have drop my psp in the floor a couple of times without damage it

i do not believe they will make a new psp since psvita did crash land hard even though psvita was a good consol

if sony are going to build a new psp it need to be able to run emulator otherwise it never going to compete with steamdeck

If Sony actually tried another PSP-like console, I think that'd be the sign the sun would crash soon.
The Vita and PSP were amazing by my standards, but if I remember correctly, they critically flopped. Handheld gaming is basically just a gacha thing, or a Nintendo product anymore.

you know what they say: "this year's nintendo product is next year's sony innovation" :P :D

The PlayStation 5 took quite many years before having its biggest exclusives as the 4 still had games.

I understand that there was a major world event when it came out but I feel that the PS5 barely has shined to have Sony make their next console, the 5 Pro is still recent.

Will it be yet another moment where we'll get to see games coming both on the PS5 and PS6 for the first two years?

What will be the technological gap between a 5 Pro and a 6?

We'll be only 3 gens away from

Maybe they'll make one that isn't easily jailbreaked and can't have it's library downloaded right from the store with no cost? If they want to dump the PSPVita fully the only thing it could have going for it is being a niche homebrew console that should be as light as bulky as a phone to seriously compete with the mobile console market (if size and bulk really is an issue for some) and importing all PSP and PSPVita titles (digital only library likely) to it to make the switch more promising.

I'd be fine with this generation lasting longer since it took so long to start given all of the cross gen games. I also bought a PS5 Pro so I'm good for a while. It saddens me that this is the last console generation that'll have discs. I'll cling on as long as I can.
