Portability and convenience are the one and only aspects that something like the Switch has over PC gaming anymore (Steam deck aside), while the PS5 and whatever XBox iteration we're on at this point have become completely obsolete to me.

That said, I doubt they'll manage to hit the sweet spot of price and quality that they'd need to hit to justify that endeavor, given the competition they're up against and especially given their recent corporate history.

Going to be extremely hard in today's environment to succeed, with the Switch 2, Steamdeck, and countless of handhelds out of China that can play/stream PC games, where the best games are no longer mainly console exclusives.
This is the issue. With the proliferation of handheld PCs from the likes of Valve, Asus, etc, Sony is going to have an uphill battle trying to get another PSP into the market. Especially with their reputation for poor performance in this area.

I don't know how they got this reputation, though. I really enjoyed my PSP when I had one. I'd cracked it so I could run homebrew, and I had a ton of fun with on-the-go emulation. Even now, I find I'm emulating the PSP pretty regularly. However, I have absolutely no experience with the Vita, and can't emulate it.

So another arm powered device that's going to essentially be a souped up smartphone with a built in controller and some special firmware ensuring you only use the device to play games sony allows you to play on it? Yup, the world sure needs yet another specialized handheld arm device for playing games.

It's the path the market is going. Table console are become a redudant and losing to PC competition. Handhels are cheaper and pretty powerful nowadays

I’ve been through this song and dance many a time. I’ll only take this discourse seriously if there’s an official announcement.
Fr I swear they say this crap every couple years then don't do shit. I'll believe it when I see it.

Let's hope they learned their lesson about treating VITA's publicity as an afterthough and mind people that actually would like RPG's

An annoying problem is plaguing PS5 owners. When the VRR function is activated, regular stuttering occurs after about 20 minutes of playing time. Both the standard PS5 and the Pro versions are affected. Sony probably needs to improve. Do you also have this problem ??

They got this reputation from the Vita. They dropped first party support for it fairly quickly, and it just became a dumping ground for mainly cheap looking, sometimes perverted Japanese RPG dungeon games.

I have a PS5 Pro with VRR set to automatic—just wondering, which game are you playing, and is it a native PS5 title or a PS4 title?

I did it with The Last of Us Parts 1 and 2 with unlimited frame rate and 120 Hz VRR support , it suddenly started stuttering after 20 to 30 minutes of play . No idea what happened but something is wrong .

my ps1 had a stuttering problem. I turned it upside down to fix... i think it was due to the laser boing too far from the disc.

i guess that with a ps5, the problem would most likely be thermal throttling. Is there anything obstructing the air intake or exhaust? can you cool the room more or place it near an ac vent?

is it enclosed in a cabinet with other equipment? Try placing it out in the open and away from anything that might get hot or trap heat.

People will just move to PC, its already a movement now then it was 10 years ago. We are a point where people arent buying these things day one anymore.

I have literally no reason to buy a console that expensive when I can just save for a new PC instead. Eventually there's gotta be a breaking point. I don't think we'll be seeing a Playstation 12 in the far off future.

PS5 half way? I think it is almost ready to be replaced...next year rumours will start about PS6 and in 2027 PS6 will be launched. If they do their homework, PS6 isn't going to cost even what PS5 Pro cost at launch, and the reason is simple: the console will be 4K the same. PS5 came out too early for the 2160p gaming so it had to be too expensive, but with 2026 technology they can create an "affordable" 4K console that can even be more powerful than PS5 Pro, because that's how it works. You need to think that in 2027 there will be ARM SoCs that will be as powerful as a regular PS5.

Wild, because peeps are still making games for it 🤔.
Great lil machine, tho. Easy to mod (with the proper firmware)

I still have yet to get Gravity Rush and that iDOLM@STER game that was only region locked there. Expect scalpers to increase the prices for the recent games that made for the PS4 in the last few years.

Only consolation is that most of these games are ported to the PC.
