Gaming is still too big to have the crash. That really only happened in the USA of 1983. There will be a huge wake off call, but I highly doubt a crash. You're also assuming the games are companies you do love will survive it. A crash doesn't affect a lot of the small guys too. Even more so.

I don't think it's that big of a deal considering that most games aren't playable without downloading content from a server and with an internet connection. Unfortunately in the eyes of these companies you don't own your games even if you own a physical disk. games like the crew and concord can never be played again despite being available on disk.

He sold them after the announcement, so it isn't insider trading. However it is interesting timing... I wonder why he did this now. Maybe he's freeing up capital to invest in Anthropic or OpenAI's upcoming IPOs.

Most games are playable without downloading content and an internet connection. Sure, they're older, outdated versions, however I'll take that over the alternative. I've played through 1.0 versions of games, they're often pretty okay, sometimes a tad bit buggy, and also sometimes really buggy, even sometimes unplayable, but that's preferable to nothing at all. But yes, if you're buying an online-only only game that requires servers to function, a physical version will eventually become unplayable unless the developers patch in an offline mode like with Redfall, Suicide Squad, The Crew 2 and Motorfest, etc.

I say we just pirate every game Sony has ever made and ever will. hit them in the wallet. Everything from the PS1 to today and when the PS6 comes out buy it second hand, jailbreak it, and put every game it has on it for free. Piracy is now our greatest weapon.

I already stopped using PlayStation after they increased the price of PS Plus(Which I shouldn't need for online multiplayer anyways). Ended up getting a Steam Deck a few years ago. Only PlayStation stuff I still use is PS3 and Vita for Battle of Z
