Sonic Heroes PC ver.

So uh... I am actually looking for a way to get this... I'm reading the modding howto thing on Game Banana and I'm kind of lost in all the terminology being used.
It says "A copy of Sonic Heroes, with the .exe file from the no-cd crack by Reloaded. (MD5 Checksum: 23c3fb873c614e15dae1f362e7a15831)" or "If you own the "Sonic PC Collection", you already have this executable. SEGA distributed a 3rd party crack in their own release." and mentions something about a DVD root...
uh... I know the modding community for this game is very active, but like... how do people even go about getting this dead game?
My computer is so new that it doesn't even have a CD drive, and I'm not about to go spending money just to goof around with this when it might not even work, alas.

Some direction would be appreciated, thanks!

The PC version was most widely available in Europe, and still low priced today.
It'd be trickier to find the Japanese release (for the voice track).

I know it's not what you want, but you should have a much easier time just running the PS2 version on an emulator.

Is the ps2 ver. moddable? I tried it with a gamecube one but uh... had no idea what I was doing unfortunately.

And no you can't mod ps2 version. If emulating stick with gamecube version, ps2 port of heroes was awful
