Sonic Battle M.U.G.E.N. Mod by cyanide. I played this a lot back in the day, it's basically Sonic Battle if it were a traditional 2D fighter, I'm not an expert in M.U.G.E.N. but I wonder if there's a way to play this on my PS Vita. There is a bug in the sound where the music does not loop and instead hangs at the end, very annoying. Source: https://network.mugenguild.com/cyanide/ Direct Download Link

I can take a look later when I get time, unless RageBurner beats me to it, this sounds like something right up my ally, I wonder if this can also fix the music in the Vita version.
I dont think it can fix that. The problem with the no sound of the Vita can be many things:

1) The format of the music isnt supported

2) Audio file is damaged somehow

3) The port just doesnt support the audio at all

If is the first two, then maybe using an audio converter and use .mp3 or .ogg for the new file then test if it works (if using .ogg then you need to change all the .def files from .mp3 to .ogg, not really worth it to go for .ogg unless nothing works)

If is the later and there is no sound at all, then is the port problem and not the game itself

Oh, then that makes things easier

If thats the case then one just need to open a stage .def file and search the [Music] part, then see if this is in the config:

[Music]
bgmusic = sound/(the stage music).mp3
bgm.loop = 1
bgm.loopstart = 0 (optional, can ignore)
bgm.loopend = 0 (optional can ignore)
bgm.volume = 100

Do note that this is by memory of mine since i quit making MUGEN stuff long ago and i dont know if they changed something since the , so before doing edits of the file make sure to back up the .def file and test the stage to see if the music loops. The important part is the bgm.loop = 1 after the bgmusic but before the bgm.volume part

Also something to keep in mind is that a perfect loop of the stage music needs an extra configuration to where it starts and end or just use a music that is already looped

I'll give that a try!

Edit: Music seems to be looping correctly for me, but yeah it might be a good idea to add the string anyway @Juiceala.

Seems to be open, I just took a gander.

For running MUGEN on a Vita, there are guides for setting up a silly work around with Dreamcast interpreters or using some NVIDIA streaming stuff
I actually already got it working natively on my Vita, with a few caveats, music does not work altogether for some reason and a few minor graphical glitches, I will have to look into that but for now I am happy I got it to work altogether, it was my first attempt and I sorta got lucky.

If this is a MUGEN game, then the sound loop problem could be that the sound configuration of the stages doesnt have the loop turned on and instead just plays the music file once

That or the sound file has a problem, but most of the time is the config file.

Problem is if the game is open (i mean that you can see the chars, stages, sound, etc files) and you can edit the stages configuration or see if the problem is in the screenpack configuration

Am I wrong or is this that one fangame where the creator put malware in the game in case someone stole the sprite sheets or something?
