This is not a mistake, I used the render from Sonic 3 US boxart on the background of Sonic 1 US boxart, I figured it could make for a visual representation of the hack.
They just drew his fingers all funky then, lol.

I forgot about those hacks but isn't her Origins incarnation harder to implement since they're not the base game?
Is the spin-dash a toggle in this hack? I like having it but the level design could sometime get broken.
I have not seen any options to toggle move set on or off but maybe in the cheats menu (I have not missed with those tbh).

As for "vanilla+" hacks for Sonic 1 how many are there? I have downloaded Anniversary Edition and Fixed Edition.
Well there are multiple, off the top of my head right now there's a very old one Sonic 1 Plus (I may still have that one) which adds a fourth act and a few quality of life improvements, there's also a hack that injects Sonic 2 to Sonic 1 complete with his moveset, sprites and transformations, there's my Sonic 1 Spindash hack https://retrogametalk.com/threads/my-sonic-1-2-bug-fixes-rom-hacks.2615/ I never shared those here though.

The mobile version (and by extension Sonic Origins) added the seventh emerald as a secret that can only be accessed by using cheat codes (talking about the official ports and not the decomps of course) but this hack adds that same seventh special stage by default and I like that, and true it shouldn't matter because Sonic did not know how to spindash or insta shield either nor did he know Tails or Knuckles, it's video game so who cares for lore, right? XD

As for the 7th Chaos Emerald and canon this shouldn't matter since the mobile remaster had it available as well and I think the presence of 6 in the original game was probably just some early instalment weirdness.

I noticed a potential bug, the Spikes enemy in Spring Yard seems to be invulnerable, you cannot defeat it by rolling or with the insta shield.
Hopefully this will get fixed in a future update.

Other than that I like most of this, nitpicks is I wish they have the option to use Sonic 1 sprites and music, I like the changes they made to the engine but an option for the og music and sprites would be nice, also playable Amy please, I really like they have the seventh emerald by default, canonically inaccurate by who cares, give me Super/Hyper Sonic, lol.

It doesn't matter if there's already Sonic Classic Heroes (which allows you to play as a single character) or that there's Sonic 1 Forever, I love seeing "x game in the engine of a future entry" and I think this is a great way to play as Tails and Knuckles via an Everdrive, a linker or an emulation machine.
