So Xbox is officially dead.

Microsoft do not need Xbox they make millions every second from the back end of the internet.
Sony on the other hand is now only a gaming company and with out PS they are dead.

I call first dibs with pissing on its grave

I think console gaming in general is dying. Nowadays, there's nothing that a console offers that you can't do with a mid-range pc, and with the fact that a pc gives you more ability to tweak it and change whatever you like, I just don't see why it's economically viable to buy a console instead of a pc. But that's just my opinion.
Sony and Microsoft wanted to kill console gaming by releasing their games on PC to eat the huge PC market cake.

Why PC is not better for a significant part of the world population is, for example, to them PC is too complex. When they sit in front of a PC they feel like they trying to pilot a mech or something. In my personal life I see "Pc Master Race" people getting old and give up using a PC anymore because at their older age using a console seems so easy when you add how much free time they lack in their personal life anymore into the equation too. As people get old they can get too sensitive for troubles in their life. Another thing is for some people buying a console is better than paying for a PC. They think you buy a console once and use it for so many years but when it comes to PC "I can't afford to constantly upgrade my PC". Well everyone have their reasons to use a console instead of a PC. These are also what Sony and Microsoft realized and why they believed no matter what their consoles will sell by either replacing PCs or their consoles became part of their "entertainment team" alongside with a PC. To them it would be too stupid to ignore PC market. Now they think exclusive game stuff is stupid that reduces potential sell of their games when they can sell more when they can sell their games on other consoles.

And then we have the ancient Nintendo still operates like it's 80s. As long as they exist console gaming cannot die lol.

PC handhelds get popular with old folks, they have the money and time mote.

We can discuss things here until we all become ghosts but I only believe that the Xbox is dead when Microsoft confirms it itself everything else is just propaganda and fake news.

The Xbox had its good quantity of chances . The classic xbox and the Xbox 360 were perfection on their own .

Its better to leave tripple AAA gaming for good except retrogaming .

Indie-gaming is the true way how games should be . Just Entertainment . Not an economic factor , a digital snickers and/or ad-filled hell-hole between brain-damaging consumerism and cheap trends inbetween .

I just want to play good and fun videogames . Thats it .

Good.
Should have stayed in your lane instead of trying to compete with Sony and Nintendo.

It's not like indie games are always good. It usually filled with the same type of genre and is pretty short. But hey I guess the price is good so..

Oh, how adorable. You honestly believe there was a console war? Please.
That was just a tiny little skirmish in the grand scheme of things.

The real victor? The PC master race of course. Because darling, it can emulate both Sony and Xbox while sitting comfortably on its throne. Not so exclusive when, three months later, it's on PC.

Cheers to the true champions of gaming.

from the outside a pc is just too much work and effort, having to gather all the right parts and put it together . theyre also pretty pricey

Thats true .
But if we look at gaming companies back then and what they brought in since the 80s , we can actually make in a much easier and faster way .

We can finally realise concepts that was impossible to get it flawless back then and now we can inspire us from cancled games that had concepts that is still untouched and should be tried again nowadays .

But indies should finally branch out away from homages with spiritual succesors and stop copying the past to start daring with game-design concepts again that are either forgotten or were rarely created .

The freedom is there , but the bravery and ambition takes time to take it .

very cool that they bought every games company and laid everyone off before doing this extremely cool i am the least mad person alive

I wonder how long it'll be before they totally ruin GamePass and are forced to close that too. The recent price increase certainly didn't help

Urge to finally play Halo Reach rising…

But for real tho

Xbox dying is a side effect of everything becoming service. Microsoft understood that charging for a service indefinetly is way more lucrative than having a one time sale for their products. Justo look at Office 365.

Also, why spend time and money developing a console while you can just charge people to have their games on the cloud or play them on their PC?

I've always been a console gamer but nowadays buying a console seems like a dumb ideia. They are expensive and don't offer the same freedom as a PC. Still, PC does have many downsides with its high maintenance.

It's curious to see how Xbox was the undisputed king of the 360/PS3/Wii era just to all come crashing down with the botched announcement of the Xbox One.

It's true that the PC is a lot more expensive. I've probably bought at least 10 PCs, some of them dating back to XP. I recently bought a RTX 5070 to replace a RTX 3060ti which made a huge difference in performance. This coming from a guy who care takes his 72 yo. mother and ended up adopting his 6 yo. niece who is now 12 and still hyper. I do more family managing than spend time of my computer and what's more, I have no job living off assistance in a senior cottage. How do I afford the PC equipment? ... monthly payments. Fortunately I don't go overboard because I need to make sure family is first. However, I was considering going console for the sake of it being much cheaper and it can keep not just myself, but family busy too when I'm taking on house work. I don't know anymore though because I kinda' sensed there's been less talk about consoles and more talk about everything PC. PC truly is a bottomless money pit... That's how things are though, no matter how much you update, you're never truly up to date.

The same type of genre leading to saturation is an issue but the shortness of a game doesn't mean anything to its intrinsic quality.

LOL i rember that commerical it was a banned xbox one. where the mother shove's the kid out of the womb like a cannon ball and the kid keeps getting old until he turn's old and fall's into the tomb.

Yeah
With the slogan: "Life is short, Play more"

We've been hearing that since 360 RROD. We also heard that with xbox one launch. We are hearing it again now. Based on that xbox has been a walking dead that can't die for more than 15 years.

Less competition is always bad.
In this case it wasn't competition, it was just a pain in the ass to spend money and time on the Xbox platform. Now that it's just Sony, things might catch a break. Too many consoles, too many features, too many options.

It's ridiculous.
