i get the feeling that this going to be either a new game with ghosts in it or something that ties into an already existing series, like the mother series. the people who worked on the pikmin shorts worked on this, which would explain the pikmin vibes that people have been getting.

It's confirmed it's done by them? So not Illumination at all? ...huh. Then the Pikmin-related theory sounds more likely than the Mario Galaxy movie one.
Anyways: that artstyle definitely doesn't scream Mother at all lol, even if potentially tied with. But ngl: it would have been amazing if that baby was Baby Ness instead showing his PK/PSI abilities.
At best I feel it's related with Mario, Chibi-Robo or, most likely, Pikmin.

Or you can leave the imagination and let it be with whatever since Nintendo is full of trolls and they would pull that card, so yeah, it can be about:

• 1080° Avalanche (she will get into snowboard)
• Excitebike (she will get into motocross)
• Dillon (she will go to the antropomorphic world from a mysterious portal she finds)
• nintendogs (she will get a dog. Yep, that's it)
• Kirby (I have no idea)
• Smash Bros. (she will be a playable character so that Nintendrones can STFU and stop harassing Sakurai about it)
