Are there any you guys enjoy? the question is broad to offer maximum engagement and space for expression.

For me American/Euro Truck are way up there, the developers are passionate and have been supporting and expanding the game for over a decade now.

I've loved trucks since I was little and there's just something relaxing about driving one in game, despite the time pressure of the delivery deadline.

So, what about everyone else?

I’m a distant admirer for sure. I was gonna pick car mechanic simulator but my specs were gutter trash.

If you like the idea of tinkering with cars, check out Automation - The Car Tycoon Game. It ia fun and deeply technical, as well as having a managerial angle.

I love flight simulation games.

I bought an USB card just to be able to play Flight Simulator 98.

I had my flight sim phase but I could only handle the more simcade ones like Mig 29 by Novalogic.

If it counts in sim genre, only one I played is "Trio of Towns Story of Seasons" for 3ds, but I haven't finished it :( I felt overwhelmed by all the things you could do (lot of land, seeds, products, relationship, towns to upgrades, etc) and when a new game came up I put it aside. Still, I liked very much the graphics and the nice atmosphere and sometimes I would like to reopen my old save, but it's like I'm not creative enough to play that kind of game.

I prefer more action-oriented genre, ex. instead of a driving sim I prefer a "Need for Speed", instead of a farming game I prefer slaying monster in real-time or even turn-based!

I don't like arcade racers a whole lot anymore. Simcade ones like Gran Turismo give more satisfaction. As for the monster slaying part I definitely agree, being a Monster Hunter fan.

Does Sim City on SNES count? That game was a chill vibe.
But thats about it for me. I never got into the Sims and I much prefer arcade racers to racing sims.

I actually like sims that let you go a little crazy... like, I remember doing barrel rolls with a 747. Pretty sure that would have been ruled large-scale attempted murder XD

Sure, I don't see why not! I love Sim City (2000, 3000 most of all), they are chill and fun like you said.

LOL and here I thought you were all serious, tsk, tsk.

I like me some lightweight business management sims like Roller Coaster Tycoon or Airline Tycoon. Ports of Call also comes to mind. They're pretty chill and seeing something grow just has that vibe to it that tickles my brain the right way. I find that it's the same reason I enjoy seeing stat growths in RPGs and idle games.

Oh, and it does help that you can go crazy every once in a while. You haven't truly played Roller Coaster Tycoon until you've built a death trap that blows dozens of tiny people to smithereens. And then you reload and it's chill again, your bloodlust satiated. You watch your little amusement park bloom. You are a generous and benevolent god again.

Also because someone's bound to say it and it might as well be me - dating sims. Hilarious in their simplicity.

This reminds me of the bouts of evil I had when playing Black & White. Sometimes I'd purposefully cause harm for a laugh, but it would soon wrench my heart and I'd feel awful for the little 3D people.

I’d have to give it some thought, cause I kind of see all games as simulation in some way. But ones off the top of my head are Carnage Heart and A-Train Express.

I’d actually love if more RPG games had simulation mechanics, usually now that just means a food gauge and dating sim parts :/

It's always fun seeing videos of trucks ? simulators because the truck always ends falling out in the most random way possible. And I think one of the most iconics ones is Train Simulator but not for the game itself but because of the trillions of DLC that the game have.

And in my case my favorites "simulators games" are the Farm ones. Is very satisfying seeing the farm grow and prospere That's why I enjoy games like Harvest Moon.

kairosoft: bookstore story, game dev story
koei: aerobiz, liberty or death

I am big The Sims 1 defender. I know the secuels are better en every single way but i just love the simplicity and you can go wrong with the sims.

Yeah their DLC policy makes Paradox seem tame. As for farming sims, I bet they can be relaxing once you get a well oiled routine going!

Flight sim for me the Ace Combat series are my fave and I played a game on PS2 called Energy Air Force it’s a fun game.

Someone had to be the brave one.

I loved the old Bullfrog stuff like Theme Hospital, and pretending I knew how to to adjust gear differentials in Gran Turismo.

I think some games actually can give a person a good working understanding of vehicles. Automation comes to mind.

Does Rise of Nations count?
It's both war sim and city building sim... probably not the best in either, but a good combination!

RoN was fun. Always felt more approachable than most other RTSes to me. It also had that very interesting attrition mechanic.
