PSP Show off your PSP? XD

Here goes mine, not all of them, just the ones i modded. These 3 are rescues, they had broken shells or broken screens and were on they way to the trash, but i saved them:

The blue 1000 is my Vice City themed, with an IPS screen.
The clear black one is my 3000 Diablo themed.
The Clear Green is my Tomb Raider themed.
And the street model has the original shell that was broken and scratched, but i was able to glue it and painted it that kinda chocolate color i found, i thought it look good with the black buttons parts. This one has an IPS screen and a glass lens, the original lens was very scratched.

I have 2 more, a white 1000 and a piano black 3000but they are stock, no modding lol.

Edit:
Completely forgot my poor PSP GO. This one had to have a shell swap, but the inner part was poor quality, so i sanded the painted the original middle part that was scratched i thought of giving it a space themed look.
That green one :🔥🤤

Thank you!! Yours looks really cute!

I don't want to bother, but would you mind giving me a pointer to these sources? I've been out of the scene since the PSP SceneBeta stopped regularly updating lol

I saw this video the other day re: the SD adapter mod but it looks mad scary, even with soldering experience lmao
So, I looked around a little since, correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems you have a Go. I was a bit quick to type earlier, as I meant that software mods are well documented, thanks to PSPunk. Hardware mods are less common to find consolidated info on, especially for the Go. Still, if you don’t mind braving the horror that is Reddit, I found several posts showing off what is possible.

Long story short, if you’re looking to modify the storage, then you’ll need to solder to the board. If you’re looking to mod the case, you’re low on options, but there ARE options out there for cases. Many are for putting in larger batteries. Others are for USB-C. The long and short of it is that the modding scene for Go is less about aesthetic upgrades, but rather giving it functionality.

My old PSP is sadly not with me for now.
Does this qualify:

The best PSP game.

Jokes aside, I’m a fan of this port! I think it was made back when we didn’t have decompiled source code, which is impressive, and the button layout feels just right in the hands. The viewing resolution has been expanded to be natively widescreen, which is a fun bonus.

But, best of all, it’s Super Mario 64 on the go with an actual analog stick!

Help. The site is glitching out for me.

I think it's pretty cheap, I've seen a good bit of them in my country on second hand markets going for around 20-40 bucks. But who knows, maybe people over here undervalue it. I luckily got mine for free from my cousin who never used it, maybe check if a relative has one? ::eggmanlaugh
Oh Nice! But what if I were to by an already modded one? I'm not confident with fiddling around with tech cuz' I tend to mess things up most of the time.::cirnoshrug

Humm, the only place I've seen pre-modded ones is Etsy, and they charge, frankly, too much. Something like $100 and upwards, I think?

On the other hand though, modifying a PSP has gotten super easy! There's an install assistant for ARK-4 now, so all you really need is your hardware and a mini-USB cable, and to follow along the automated install.

Trust me! Modding a PSP software-wise is super easy, low risk, and comes HIGHLY recommended. To the point where, I’ll be honest, the system without mods is restricted HEAVILY thanks to the closure of many of its services. Mods help you play the games that can’t be played anymore! Mods help you create actual folders for software, movies, and music that you NEED for you to have a more organized system! Mods add more to the multi media experience, unlocking what were previously restrictions that frankly shouldn’t be there in the first place.

Mods help your PSP. It’s healthy for it.

Anyone else got a red psp?

Just checked out PSPunk! What an amazing resource, I wish such a thing had been available in my PSP-heavy days, would've made everything so much easier lmao

I agree Reddit has pretty much gone down the drain. I used to live in it, pretty much. Nowadays I only follow a handful of hobby-related subreddits and that's it, gotta preserve my sanity lol

If there's a mod I would love to do (not sure if it exists) it would be an adapter to use 3k accessories on it. I'm still mega salty about not being able to play Invizimals lol

Edit because I forgot to say thanks!!

Thank you for making this thread, OP. The PSP is one of my favorite systems to see people’s variations on, as it’s as much a multimedia device as it was a game system. And it’s a handheld during the height of the era of customizing your handheld to make it stand out. Nowadays, the PSP can kind of double as a fashion statement if you carry it around with you.

On top of all that… I just like seeing people celebrate the PSP. It doesn’t happen too often, so it’s just nice to see. Well timed too! I just picked my system up again after a few months to play Mega Man Powered Up!

Mega Man Powered Up!
hehe nice taste in games

also yes i love people posting their PSPs, i've always wanted one as a child but my parents wouldn't allow it because they thought it's too expensive and it'll get in the way of my studies so i'm happy to finally get my hands on one
Does this qualify
yes cos i get to see what games you have and consider if i should download them too XD
I haven't modded yet, but I ordered three shells.
please share them on this thread when you mod them!

Total Kommando
i wonder if Total Kommando is on this forum cos he's really the freakin guru when it comes to PSP modding. everything i've done is thanks to him

but i saved them
we might be kindred spirits - i like doing this too, i'm not exactly a hoarder, nor do i know much about electronics but it pains me to think someone would throw a console away if it's fixable.

which one is your main PSP?

it’s as much a multimedia device as it was a game system
Yeah!! I still use mine for music and anime, I have one of those hard-cases that turn into a desk-stand and will use it to watch old classics. It's a pain converting MP4s for it, but so worth it.

He really is, I love how thorough his videos are. There's always some new bit of information in his videos that get me excited to do something new with my PSP

I ended up giving mine to a friend. Stupid I know. I had a god of war edition 3000 black face red back and installed cfw on it after a while. It was a fun and resilient system I had it from when I was 14 until I was 21 or so and it never gave me any issue beside replacing a battery. I wish I had kept it, but I think the Vita is the next best thing. Though I am growing a little tired of dusting off all of the old consoles its kind of nice to just have a pc that can do it all.

Like everyone else said, don't worry about it, modding a PSP took me like 6 minutes tops I think. All you do is just put like 2 files onto your PSP memory, go to games and open them. Then there's really no process, everything is done on it's own afterwards. Pretty easy stuff.

Hehe its not that i am an hoarder too. The thing is i feel sorry to see those consoles going to the trash when they can be rescued, and then i always end up doing something cool with them and i cant give them away or sell them after that lol. This happened with 3 GBAs i fixed and modded too.

Well i try to use them all, so it goes like this. The blue Vice City one its only for GTA :D, The street is to play PS1 Eboots, the clear green is for Tomb Raider only, the clear black is for Diablo and movie ISO's (got around 40Gb of movies in there). The PSP Go is to play any game i feel like it on the TV with a PS3 controller, and the rest of the games i like are divided between the other 2 unmodded ones, this way i end up using all of them from time to time.
