Should I learn to draw using the traditional method or the digital method?

Hello, nice to meet you. Hello again, my name is Paulo, but you can call me Lod. I've always wanted to learn to draw, but I don't know if I have the right way. I want to know which method is best: paper and pencil, or digital with a tablet and a pen to start drawing. What would be a good method for me to learn from scratch, since I know absolutely nothing?

Paper and pencil is probably the least expensive method. You can transfer some of the knowledge gained from paper to digital and vice versa, too, but if you're starting out, cheap is good. If you stick with it, then you can pick up digital too and start to learn that with some foundation already established from your work on paper.

Thank you for your help, sorry for bothering you.

I’d also recommend starting with a pencil and eraser. With them, you can begin drawing simple subjects and get comfortable with basic perspective planes. Crayons are also really fun to use...they let you unleash your imagination without worrying too much about making mistakes.

Thank you for your help. I think I've seen you around here before, if not, nice to meet you. My name is Paulo, but you can call me Lod. Have a great day. I'm going to start drawing the basics. I'm going to try drawing a circle.

We’ve definitely crossed paths before, and I remember pretty much everyone I’ve interacted with on this forum, yourself included. It's a pleasure to meet you, Paulo, and good luck with your new hobby... make sure to show us your progress if you're up for it!😉

I say try both if you can, but you should get used to one of them first before trying the other. My best recommendation is to start with pencil and paper--- it's the best suited to learning basics. You will feel out the method you prefer, but I think either way you'll have a use for both.

Thank you, well, I'm learning the basics, and answer a question if it's not too much trouble: if I don't know how to draw a perfect circle like the artists, I'll just do what I practice, but it's not...

Learning to draw transfers to any medium, whether it's pen and paper, a tablet, a mouse in mspaint, or even your school's wall at night ::sailor-embarrassed
Just do it in the way you enjoy the most. Any time you draw something, no matter how bad it may look, you gain something important.
