A free PC side‑scrolling platformer released by Atlus Japan as part of the 25th anniversary of the Megami Tensei series. The game was available as a limited‑time download on Atlus’s official site from October 16 to December 24, 2017, and is no longer officially distributed. It features Jack Frost and Jack‑o’‑Lantern (Pyro Jack), lets you switch between them during exploration and combat, and incorporates elemental weakness mechanics in a Metroidvania style format. The game received positive feedback and even an unofficial English fan‑patch by Brento_Bento

I was actually digging into the games that Ladybug has developed, and before they went off making amazing Metroidvanias, they made a fan game for KonoSuba that is a Mega Man clone. It also seems that the engine they created for their games started with this game.

There was also a translation patch made for that game as well.

yeah thanks! I played that Konosuba game and its pretty good for what it is! its funny how they named their engine the "Mogura Engine" (Mole Engine) like the Fox Engine... it even has a similar logo... thanks for linking it to me!

And Touhou Luna Nights and DRAINUS, all awesome games. They also recently released Blade Chimera, which looks cool but I haven't played it.

oh yeah... I put Luna Nights on my wishlist years ago and completely forgot about it... I thought there was a reason I liked the art (cuz it was so familiar)... I need to go get that now... hadnt heard of DRAINUS or Blade Chimera.. ill check those too

Yeah, I believe not including this freeware game, there four releases are Deedlit, DRAINUS, Luna Nights, and Blade Chimera. I think you can kind of count Pharaoh Rebirth, too...I guess Krobon Station became Team Ladybug, or some members joined them later, I'm not positive exactly.

I just tried this one. The Jack Bros in a metroidvania is fantastic! The controls feel solid. Im pretty early in the game still but Im happy i gave this one a try.

That's not surprising. This game was released as a promotion for Strange Journey Redux on the 3DS.

I dont know but I did play this game when it first came out and it feels like a proto of that Record or Lodoss War game that came later

Does anyone know why this wouldnt run in winlator? it shows like a mostly blacked out menu and when u choose run it launches into a weird b&w screen and no buttons work and nothing happens. works fine on my pc tho.

Blade Chimera is pretty good and it kind of surprised me because I thought their Record of Lotus War game was pretty whack
