Still on my rewatching all ghibli movies plan.
(Including Nausicaa?)
Saw Kiki´s Delivery Services last week, it was beautiful.
I absolutely love the ambience of that movie, if not more than the rest aside from Nausicaa and Castle in the Skies.

It's also funny how it shows how Hayao is a massive fan of Italy because even if it's a nondescript city it looks awfully a lot like your typical mediterranean coastal city (which would soon get confirmed by Porco Rosso).

Also I love the main theme song simply because even back when the movie released it was retro

PS: I have the book, I should read it someday.

I literally just finished this right now, on my way to watch every Bond movie made in order.

Liked more than I thought I was going to.

The 7th Seal from 1957 is a really great movie. I really wish I understood Swedish so I didn't have to watch the subtitled or dubbed version. Though I did watch the dubbed one with subtitles on, and it seems like they changed very little, just to make it make sense for English

A Swedish knight returns home from the Crusades to find his country in the grips of the Black Death, he challenges Death to a chess match for his life. More to it. but that's Basically the gist of it

I know, right?, during the entire film I was always feeling that it had an european ambience, although I thought it was Germany inspired lol.

Had movie night with the best bro and we decided to watch Barbarian, the 2022 Zach Cregger film. The night before, I'd sent him a trailer for Cregger's upcoming movie Weapons; we both liked what we saw and decided to see his debut film to get a sense of what to expect.

Unfortunately, neither of us want to see Weapons in theatres anymore. ::sailor-embarrassed
I'm so confused by that movie's success.

The good news is that he's more of a horror fan than I am and suggested Longlegs (2024) as a better alternative, so that's up next.

As of recently I've finally watched The Bad Guys, Turning Red and Big Hero 6 because they were movies I liked the trailers but didn't get to watch until much later.

I'm going to watch Flow

You're welcome, the announcement of the sequel kinda was a wake up call.

As for Disney I kinda fear about stuff like Zootopia 2 not being as good. WIR 2.0 was a bummer already.

I've often heard it was a cheesy movie but it's kinda scary how relevant it kinda is

And a movie prior to it based on a novel made before the book that was used as a basis for Running Man

I watched Phenomenon (1996), but i wouldnt recommend it. I'll recommend Quick Change (1990) tho

I watched Brick on Netflix. It's a German language psychological horror/sci fi film about a group of people trapped in their apartment building due to a an impenetrable wall of unknown material blocking the doors and windows. If you've seen Await Further Instructions, it's somewhat similar to that film. If you liked that one then you probably will like Brick as well.

I watch movies mainly on Thursday and Friday nights. Thursdays are reserved for non-english films and Fridays for English films.

Last Thursday I saw Takeshi Kitano's Outrage.

I wrote an entire review of it on a discord server, hold up, let me copy paste a little.
Yeah, this was definitely an interesting film. If I have to explain how the film works and what the main focus is of the film, then I would give some sort of a comparison to help things. In Christopher Nolan's *Inception* by the end there is a concern about escape of the main characters, but mainly the escape of Cobb. In that film, Cobb is the centre force of all things. He is the one leading the charge, any troubles that comes, comes from his own personal past, present, and what may lie for him in the future, what he dreams about, what he longs for, what he lost, and what he regrets. In Dunkirk on the other hand, the entire film is about the concerns of the escape of the soldiers, but there is technically no central soldier you care about, so it has a more feeling of inviting you to explore the event what a collective faced instead of a collective anchored by a single character whose emotional resonance affects others and his own life. Similarly, to how Inception at the end of the day is about a singular human who forms a collective while Dunkirk is about the observation of a collective group of characters itself, I have similar analysis of the differences between Sonatine and Outrage. Sonatine is also about a Yakuza gang, but in that film, Kitano's character is the central focus, and how his desensitization to violence and unpredicatability gives us a plot which while starts with a collective of people (in that film's case, a Yakuza gang in hiding) eventually culminated into the character study of a singular man who has been exposed to violence so much that he doesn't flinch, feel, or enjoy anything about it. In that regards, my comparison might seem fraut and kind of pretentious (and maybe it is), but in that structure of storytelling sense, and I only structure of storytelling sense, it is a convergence from a collective to a singular just like Inception. So similarly, Outrage feels closer to Dunkirk, where instead of you eventually following a single character, the entire gang and its activities and infightings, and backstabbings, are a character themselves. If Inception and Sonatine are more closer to reading a novel, Dunkirk and Outrage are closer to reading a headline in a newspaper. Where instead of emotionally attaching yourself to one anchor, you are observing the incidents of a collective, and have no attachment to any one character, but are still fascinated by the incidents themselves. Like here, in this film, basically what you are witnessing is an entire Yakuza gang eating itself up. Where hunger for power within leads to everyone killing everyone, and after a while it feels almost ridiculous on how usually Yakuzas advertises themselves as some sort of modern noble samurai, and base their entire system after it, but at the smallest of *Outrage* whether it be the smallest insult or a smallest misunderstanding, they will kill their own sworn fathers and brothers. There is no loyalty and those metaphorical classic gestures of cutting finger off to show regret means nothing, because in reality these are just violent men seeking the smallest excuse for violence. In that regards, I found this film uniquely fascinating. As if, how to say, I am watching a human equivalent of an animal documentary. Where we are less attaching ourselves to one animal, and instead scientifically analyzing their behavior and violence. I hope I am making sense and not coming off as pretentious ass, but yeah, this was definitely a unique experience in comparison to other Kitano films, though the film feels very one and done by the end, so I am confused how did Kitano managed to convert it into an entire trilogy. Though there were some open threads with the black ambassador, the bandaged man, and Kitano's character himself, so maybe the sequels cover from there.

On Friday, I saw Steven Sodenberg's adaptation of Elmore Lenord's Out Of Sight, starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.

While not as good as Tarintino's Jackie Brown (which was an adaptation of Lenore's Rum Punch and share some same characters, in fact Michael Keaton's Ray Nicolet and Samuel L Jackson's Hejira Henry makes a cameo in this film), I still loved the film mainly because of Sodenberg's unique editing style, and the chemistry between Clooney and Lopez.

Next Thursday and Friday is slotted for Beyond Outrage (2012) and Boyhood (2014) respectively. If anything changes, then it changes. Life doesn't always work out as planned, so if I miss watching one of these due to any reason or felt like watching something else, you will know I guess. Lol. XD

i know for a fact that we have a lot of spanish speaking users in the vidyagaems/emulation scene, therefore i would like to remind all the hombres that there is a 1080p version of this american-chicano classic available probably on hulu or disney+ (and other places where you might get streaming versions of movies *cough* *cough*). this movie has been trapped on DVD since eternity and i'm glad we can see it crystal clear now. a thrilling tale of brotherhood, family, good and evil, culture a microcosm of not just america but the world caught in this prison/gang classic. check it out if you havent, i had the best of times rewatching it in a resolution never seen before. and there are some scenes added to it, which was another surprise. i hope they release a blu-ray of this version in the future, because its ever worth owning. check it out if you havent!

Finally Saw Beyond Outrage And it was a nice followup to Outrage, and there is definitely much focus on characters this time around, and unlike previous film where it felt like it had no main character here we have some characters you could consider a quote on quote "main character", and obviously one of them is definitely Kitano's character, as the story starts as if finally centering around him somewhat. I don't know if I should be comparing it to the first film, as while the story is definitely a followup to the first film, the style is a bit different as it feels like instead of the "watching animals in human forms" style of first film is replaced by a traditional crime drama revenge narrative, although a good one, and that ending scene was amazing.

So watch Boyhood (2014) And it was amazing. Especially the acting felt really natural and it felt like I lived someone else's life to a certain point between these 2 hrs 45 minutes.

I also like how despite it being shot over years, certain aspects of the plots are always connected between the life, so it feels like an actual real life. Also, despite having some dark moments, it is still a film that is very relaxing at the end of the day and has some moments that really make you smile.

Southern Comfort felt like Rambo and Predator while still being its own thing

Maybe folks at Capcom used it as an inspiration for RE4 and RE7.

Cajun people aren't to take lightly haha.

Check Out DAGON 2001 if you want to see a Resident Evil 4 type movie. I'll be putting Souther Comfort on my list! I love Deliverance, so the poster already sold me!

I've also liked the modern early 2020's trilogy by the Manetti Bros. yet I miss the 60's psychedelic feeling.
