I would say it's a revenge movie with an artistic veneer on top and well-executed, but the climax might not please everyone (I could even say that the economics of characters development might not please everyone).
Today I wasted my time with The Monster That Challenged the World from 1957.
Or as I like to call it: The Monster That Did Absolutely Nothing.
Nothing interesting really happened in this show other then the endless leaps of logic that's more vast then the ocean itself in decision making, the ending had me stunned in absolute disbelief from how the main protagonist chooses to fight not with the fire axe that is positively staring at him, but rather the fire extinguisher is what he grabs to combat an aquatic creature.
And of course, the monster just idly stands there and does absolutely nothing for all the time it is onscreen Almost as if it's yearning for the sweet release of not being in this film anymore . All deaths of people that succumb to the monster is largely done offscreen, I can safely say it's better then The Magnetic Monster from 1953, because you actually get to see the creature! Not that it did this film much favours though.
I finished watching The 7th Voyage of Sinbad (1958)
Very fun film, I love the stop motion sequences for the fantastical creatures, it was a delight to watch them in action. The atmosphere is also great enough to keep you hooked for what comes. Some lines felt a bit stilted but I suppose that's part of the charm.
My next film is Vertigo, which also released in 1958.
