Saturn Saturn Recommendations?

So since alot of people have mentioned the official english release games, i'll mention some english patched ones that haven't been mentioned that are available in the repo.
Make sure to read the notes on the page.
Might add in a couple of untranslated japanese ones that can be played with little japanese knowledge.

Grandia (saturn ver)
Lunar Silver Star Story (again saturn version)
Vandal Hearts (as above, though i hear this one can be finicky so i'd check the comments section)
Densetsu no ogre battle and Tactics Ogre (saturn vers,)
Thunder Force V (has official english version, just didn't see it mentioned)
Blast Wind
Bulk Slash
Princess Crown
Cotton 2
Sillouette Mirage (saturn Version)

Now for the japanese only shmups that you can play without knowing japanese.
Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius
Gekirindan (one of my favorite shmups)
Guardian Force
Gokujou Parodius
Sexy Parodius
Cotton Boomerang

Now albert odyssey gaiden is another game i would suggest (jrpg) but the game is fairly notorious for it's load times, game is good though.
I just want to say that it's preferable to play some of these shmups in their Arcade releases if possible because of load times and general grievances with fifth gen ports.

Not sure if you like first person mecha games but Gungriffon and Gungriffon 2 are pretty awesome. Most other games I had in mind were already mentioned.

I would agree with you, however it appears they are looking for games to play on a actual saturn, so the arcade versions are out of the question.

I strongly recommend Sakura Taisen. I played through the fan translation last year and found it super charming and fun. And the translation of 2 is (hopefully) on its way.

are there any cinematic games like Metal Gear Solid on the Saturn. I played the Saturn Dog Years ago at the Sears stores when they had demos... I only recalled playing Virtua Fighter 2 and Virtua Cop

suggest Dark Savior (1996) an action-adventure exclusive on the Saturn.

Mr. Bones is actually wicked underrated, it's kind of a clunky variety platformer but it's not too frustrating and has a lot of beautiful scenery and fantastic music . the cg cutscenes are really fun too, i love how they look so much.

Enemy Zero is a really cool survival horror stealth game, it's a sequel to D (D no Shokutaku) and has a pretty awesome mechanic where you can only hear enemies, not see them.

Sega Rally, Burning Rangers, Guardian Heroes, Die Hard Arcade, Panzer Dragoon Zwei, Daytona CCE (I know, I'm in the minority), Virtua Fighter 2, Last Bronx, Taru Maro, the list is endless.

Seconding the SMT: Devil Summoner recommendations. In particular, if your Japanese isn't very good, there's an English translation of the story dialogue that you can follow along. As for things like item and spell names, I remember seeing a guide on GameFAQs that had translations for those.

I would also recommend its follow-up, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, but that got a re-release on the 3DS that localized the game into English and is probably more accessible than the original Saturn version at this point.

From the long lineage of tactical rpgs that never made it out of Japan. Fairly standard gameplay and very linear but the atmosphere and style are second to none.
Luckily there’s a fan translation.

Also a lot of fun. Sadly I don’t think there’s a translation yet.

Pretty lo-fi tournament fighter. It’s not very good but it is pretty funny.
