Everything continues to get worse. I honestly feel bad for young people who didn't get to experience the world before everything went to shit. No way the PS6 will cost less than $1K at this rate.

We have a shop here called Müller. They just made the Playstation 5 digital or with disc drive and the Pro 10 percent cheaper.

PlayStation 5 Digital Edition
465,00 € → 418,10 €

- PlayStation 5 Slim disc drive
515,00 € → 463,10 €

- PlayStation 5 Pro
749,00 € → 674,10 €

PS5 scalping prices all over again but instead of scalpers it is thanks to other companies.

Gaming is becoming a luxury only the rich will afford.

europe and the middle east getting fucked by the war, more news at 11

Consoles will only go up in price, and memory components at some of the vendors are fabricated and allocated to the consumer market at like a 1 out of 20 ratio, the rest going to enterprise data centers.

For PS4 users, it's about lucky(as the PS Store of the console will continue to have deals for a long time).

And PC users will also have a luck, dependind of the graphical board users has thanks for his customization system and the Steam.

This is nuts, the PS5 is like 5 years old and instead of getting cheaper they wanna increase the price.

PlayStation has to make the money somehow from so much sucking this generation...

My 5 year guaranteed PS4 Pro is looking better and better.

At least your milk prices are on point Mr. Milkman.

Gaming is becoming a luxury only the rich will afford.
Increasingly the trick for affordable gaming is in amassing a backup library and acompaigning the price fluctuations in what can work as retro emulation devices or steam boxes.

$980 + tax for a PS5 Pro with a disc drive. Yep, PS6 is $1K+. This industry is FUCKED.

I saw someone on the internet say that casuals will buy a PS6 to play GTA 6 at 60fps. Uh, no they won't. $1K game consoles aren't for casuals but early adopters and enthusiasts.

While I get that prices to make things are going up, it's also greed. Companies are no longer willing to take a loss on selling a console in order to make a profit on selling games. Now, they insist on making a profit on every console, even though they get 30% of sales on their digital storefront from third-parties and 100% of first-party sales. It sucks, but it's not surprising, every large company seems to be run in roughly the same way by the same people.

I'm curious if Nintendo will raise their prices again now. Microsoft might as well, but them selling Series consoles feels hypothetical at this point anyway.

they literally did a price drops last year with this in mind but the RAM price hike completely threw this off. How much can they withstand if RAM is reaching 4x it's price, with this machine having 16GB GDDR4, if the manufacturing cost was $50 now it's 150 or even more.

Yes yes, the multi billion corp should cope, that would be the ideal scenario.

I can see why Sony might consider delaying the PS6.

No one's really begging for a PS6 at this point. PS5 hasn't even hit a mainstream mass market price like the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 did. Most people with PS5 seem happy with the hardware, acknowledge that it feels like this generation has barely started since it's felt lackluster from a first-party perspective and a long cross-gen phase, as well as games taking forever to make nowadays (Naughty Dog still haven't released a new game). This is why I'm not particularly fond of the graphics race that outlets like Digital Foundry promote. Games take too long to make, cost too much, and now the hardware's so expensive that it's unobtainable for a large portion of the population unlike previous Playstation consoles. The graphics race needs to come to an end.

This is the first console generation that is actually getting more expensive as time goes on. Incredible
The most abnormal, bizarre generation. A pandemic, an attempt to stabilize economically, a drastic shift in design philosophy (live service games flopping), a sudden and unexpected hardware manufacturing increase and a demand for RAM that almost quadruples prices for SSDs and RAM.

They were supposed to get cheaper with time, not increase.

Now there are rumors swirling that Sony's also raising the price of PS Plus.

Charging people to play online is fucking dumb.

Barf. I hope not. It's already 80 bucks a year for very little when it used to be 60. Why wouldn't they, though? If you want to play with friends or have access to your PS Plus library, they've got you over a barrel. And by you, I mean me. Without the safety buffer of cheap PC gaming, there is little incentive for them not do keep doing this unfortunately.

I'd like to know what the new price will be in Japan because the PS5 Pro was already over $1000 here. I can't imagine paying that much for a console, especially when it doesn't even have any games.

Well, seeing as the PS5 has fuck all for games, guess they have to make up the difference somewhere... And honestly, looking at the PS5 landscape game wise... well, they better hope the SONY fanboys step in and pony up for their meh-tier console

Don't get me wrong, I used to love the PlayStation brand. That's why I have a PS 1 - 4....

Well okay.... I bought a PS3 and PS4 just to jailbreak them, but I digress. I might buy a PS5 when I find one in a pawnshop for about 60 bucks, like I did with the PS3 & PS4.

Dynamic pricing and this steep price increase don't bothe well for current PlayStation. Some players may be extra happy to have or get a PS5 before the price increase but Sony will probably find new ways to try to squeeze them harder. Like planned obsolescence with the PS4 console updates, turning the systems slower, buggier.

The wars, the tariffs, AI, their ostentatious boneheaded push into the live service market and losing appeal, in general, of their single player games may be destroying their finances and the death of Xbox consoles may have made them lazier and greedier...

At this point current PlayStation users may have turned into hostages. They just didn't notice, yet.
