Root is a super cute and fun strategy game where every player faction is fighting for power over each 'clearing' on the board. The first player to 30 points wins, and each faction has its own unique way of playing and gaining points.

I highly recommend it if you haven't played it yet. It's super easy to pick up, and there's a play style for everyone!

Also it's heckin cute!

Has anyone here played? If so, what are your favorite factions and why?

Bruh, this is my favorite board game of ALL TIME. I have all the expansions, extra hirelings, the extra neutral buildings, the whole nine yards. I love love love this game; big fan of the Eyrie for just the whole expand and contract mechanics and the Keepers in Iron for being paladin badgers looking for relics! Everything is so cute (and deadly) in that game.

We got everything too! Even the fancy double sided neoprene playmat and the dumb little resin clearing markers :3

I love the Eyrie. They're nice for when you don't want to think too hard. I think I shine most with the Woodland Alliance, though. BOOM workers' rebellion!!!!

The Last game we played I almost won with a Favor of the Mice card but came short 2 points T.T

Woodland Alliance are so fun. Thats so brutal! Ive won a couple games wwith the Eyrie. Its great when my sister comes over to play she always plays the Lizard Cult and they are so freaking scary when someone who really understand the mechanics are playing them-- those eye-lickers are terrifying!

Never heard of that one -- looks and sounds awesome!

Seems that you are our local boardgame expert ;D

I have this digital, though I admit I barely played. It's super cute, and I like that it is inherently asymmetrical.

Only tried the digital once. Woodland alliance is pretty cool. Wonder if there are other asymmetrical board games?
