Good News for all 80s Action fans: RoboCop is still blasting bad guys heads off and his work isn't done yet. The bad news is that with few new weapons and enemies the action in Unfinished Business never really picks up enough to keep up with the sky-high plot or to distinguish itself as anything more than a reboot of the original. RoboCop making his way from the ground floor to the top floors in search of stolen OCP equipment. It's also somewhat reminiscent of BioShock with shocking twists like Irrational Games underwater classic.

Anyone who played Rogue City in 2023 has already experienced most of what Unfinished Business has to offer in terms of combat

I found myself making frequent use of Robo's returning slow-motion ability to combat the rapidly approaching robo-bombs, as well as the swarms of flying security drones that unpredictably zip through the air. I either shattered their robotic skulls with a swift volley of bullets or simply grabbed them and disposed of them with about as much effort as I would a used. The biggest issue I had with the gunplay in Unfinished Business was the same one I had with 2023's Rogue City. Robo's signature Auto 9 blessed with unlimited ammo easily upgradeable traits and an undeniable coolness factor. I almost completely obviates the dozens of other firearms found throughout the campaign.

Murphys Law

The structure is cleverly constructed: You have to take down hordes of mercenaries with your Auto 9 and in between settle disputes between citizens in side missions that are sometimes fun but sometimes completely boring. And then in simple puzzle sections flip a few switches and turn valves to clear the way. All of this adds a twist that's important to the plot but not particularly exciting to play.

RoboCop always seems to be illuminated by neon lights as if emerging from the driver's window of a Ford Taurus on the poster for the 1987 film

I never grew tired of seeing RoboCop himself on screen. Like in the previous game his polished steel armor looks absolutely perfect and he always seems to be illuminated by neon lights as if emerging from the driver's window of a Ford Taurus on the poster for the 1987 film.

My Conclusion

I someone who enthusiastically played through the original RoboCop: Rogue City my expectations for this standalone expansion. Unfinished Business were higher than those of a junkie on Nuke. From the exciting cameo of ED-209 however there isn't enough new here to warrant spending another 10 hours with everyone's favorite baby-food-sipping supercop worth going out of your way for. The makers probably thought less is more but that doesn't necessarily make the game more interesting.

I had loads of fun with Rogue City and the DLC. They don't necessarily re-invent the wheel, but it's still a satisfying and chunky shooter.
Robo Cop is a classic which I find very unfortunate that the creators haven't made any effort to develop it further.

It is on the short side compared to most reviews. Feels more like a first impressions post than a full review. Some sections are rushed e.g. you say puzzles “aren’t particularly exciting” but don’t elaborate why (too easy? repetitive?).

Structure: Transitions are choppy. Starts with “Good News / Bad News,” then abruptly shifts to gameplay, then side missions, then visuals.

Would benefit from consistent sectioning: Gameplay, Missions & Structure, Visuals & Style, Conclusion.

Do let me know if you are interesante on working on it further.

Okay, yeah I thought I'd give it a try. But I don't think I'd bother with it much longer. This is probably more for Game Recommendations. Thanks for your opinion.
