Resident-Evil-Survivor-Light-Gun-Support.jpg

This is a hack of Resident Evil: Survivor (also known as Biohazard Gun Survivor in Japan) which aims to restore lighgun support which was removed from the US version as well as fix a few bugs such as broken music in one of the areas in the factory and disable modchip detection for convenience. I only tested this with a controller and it seems to work but since I have no access to a lightgun I cannot test that, maybe someone can test and confirm if the lightgun actually worksm but the game itself works fine with a controller. Hack […]

Funciona perfecto con pistola GunCon original en ps1 botones gira la cámara y mantener el gatillo fuera de pantalla camina-saludos desde Argentina

I mean lightgun support. Would I have to use a guncon 3?
If guncon 3 supports lightgun games (lethal enforcers, time crisis, point blank, etc) then yes this should work.

I have not tested it but it should work, ps3 cfw has high support for ps1 games, as for the lightgun idk if it will work on ps3 but you should be able to at least play with a controller.

First, the european version supported the lightgun already, but I guess 30fps over 25 was important?
Second I can say from experience that using the lightgun in RE Survivor isn't exactly fun. You hold the gun away from the TV and hold the trigger to walk, using the red buttons to turn left or right. Then when you stop you can point the gun at the TV and shoot, but the auto-aim thing from the controller-version is still there so it's pretty mindless.
Higher FPS is ALWAYS more important in video games. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either being willfully ignorant (most console peasants, a la the "console wars" during the 7th and 8th gen) or disingenuous.

More importantly, for people who play on real hardware--like me--PAL versions don't even work with most NTSC CRT TVs (unless you have a very specific brand, or have a boatload of money and/or luck to get a PVM). Lightgun games, to be quite blunt, lose most of their charm through emulation via mouse because you're missing the most important aspect: the lightgun controller.

This mod allows NTSC users to play the game as it was intended in the region it was released in. There are more people who play on real hardware than you think.

Your post sounds like you're trying to be disparaging by questioning the veracity of this mod just because the PAL version exists. You very clearly have an opinion on how the game plays (and I'm not even in complete disagreement with your assessment), but you're letting your shallow judgement (and possible bias) completely miss the entire point of this mod: giving users the experience we should've gotten to begin with.

Or, you're just being a troll to get a rise out of people. If so: well-played, sir!

I love this part of the Resident Evil series, and I'd say it has its own unique style, which might not appeal to everyone, but I hope for a remaster or remake.::cirnoshrug

Yo, this looks sick, now I wish I had a lightgun to try this, it looks fun with a lightgun.
You know, I'm now motivated to share the Resident Evil Chronicles games to the repo, we need more Resident Evil lightgun love.
I'm glad I can give you a bit of inspiration to publish more light gun games. I am in wholehearted agreement that lightgun games do not get enough love. Elemental Gearbolt on PSX is one of my favorite lightgun games, and I'm always pulling it out at least once a year and go a few rounds. I'm not even joking when I say that the biggest reason why I still have this massive 168lb(76.2kg) hunker of a CRT tv is so that I can continue to play lightgun games on the PSX, PS2, Dreamcast, and Wii (which has a shocking amount of great lightgun games like L.A. Machineguns and Gunblade NY!)

I would highly recommend getting a lightgun when you are able to! The wiimote just doesn't give lightgun games the justice they deserve on wii!

Confirmed working on real hardware with GUNCON1 controller on CRT tv.

I had issues initially with not shooting the enemies because I forgot (and remembered with a quick search) that the contrast/brightness of the CRT tv has to be set pretty damn high for the light gun to register properly. I was confused as to why I had to be really close to the tv just to calibrate it initially. Once I set the brightness up to about 70~+%, everything worked like a charm.

Here is a video showing it working in action. You can hear the trigger pull, which is much louder than I expected on video haha!

Can someone tell us what settings to choose on retroarch to play it with a mouse???
Enable «GunCon» (gun conversion for mouse) in the settings of the «Duckstation» emulator. You can’t set it up in Retroarch.

Thank you, please upload the Windows version.
You’re funny!
«Resident Evil Survivor» was only officially released for Windows in «Taiwan and China» in 2002. Due to outdated DRM technology, it doesn't run natively on modern systems. The best way to play the game on Windows is to emulate the «PlayStation» version using the «DuckStation» emulator.

Este protagonista ark thompson es amigo de leon kennedy cierto? Por cierto gracias por subirlo👍😄

I have a softmodded PS2 that can play burned PSX games, a Namco Guncon1, and a 32" CRT TV (using HD Retro Vision's component cables). When I get the time, I'll do a test and see if the guncon actually works with real hardware. As long as there's not any serious ASM modifications to the game (like with many Final Fantasy Hacktics mods), the game should run as normal on a burned disk (I use Taiyo Yuden CR-Rs, so the medium is about as good as it can get).

As an aside (slightly off-topic, but tangentially relevant): I have tried running light gun games off ethernet before (my ps2 slim is connected to a W10 PC set up with OPM using SMB), and unfortunately, at least for Time Crisis: Crisis Zone (PS2), there's too much latency and the game is unplayable. I could see if POPStarter through ETH works, if anyone is interested in that, as well.

You can always test light gun support by enabling Guncon (Mouse) under Duckstation's settings.

Can confirm: batocera 42 with Sinden Light Gun does work. Don’t expect much, it’s neither Resident Evil nor House of the Dead. But hey, it works! Thanks for uploading a patched version of the game.
