I rather watch The mask 2 or even a bunch of Asylum movies over watching the garbage they call game awards. The shit is pure scam and the ones that gets awards is the one that greased enough hands and sucked enough D.

It´s just pure lies and crap. Remember when they had PLAYER votes and it was clear as day ghost of tsuhima won but then gave the win to last of trash II. Our votes mean jack shit.


Outworlds II will win all awards because it´s "Inclusive" and made for modern audience.

It’s from an attack ad Sega made to specifically mock Mario Kart World. Mario Kart World is apparently a “slow moving RV” to them. I hated that ad because it’s just Sega flaunting their toxic ego and because they think their game is “better than MKW” (it’s not). Sonic fans then annoyingly spammed a screenshot of that ad on every post relating to Mario Kart World.

It's pretty easy to avoid. I don't mind watching it, I just have it on in the background and tune out for things that don't interest me. Like the yearly "Here's Kojima taking 15 minutes to waste everyone's time by showing off his latest Hollywood friend and not much else" segment. There are usually some decent trailers and announcements.

With that said, it is a very safe, lame, and sterile stream of advertisements masquerading as an awards show. Still, since it's live it's the closest thing we get these days to any sort of interesting E3-esque chaos. The era of carefully prepared pre-recorded streams has largely stamped that out. Remember when that dude snuck on to the stage when Elden Ring won GOTY? It was dumb but still interesting.

In all honesty I think my problem is less with the ad itself and more the cornballs who take it way too seriously.

In the 90s. Now it feels stale and annoying to the point that Sega went a little too far. Sonic Mania worked because of how monotonous every game in the 2010s were nothing but boring lootcrated EA/Activision wannabe cinematic COD FPS knockoff game every gamer knows is getting tired of. With Kart World, it just feels dirty. I'm surprised Sega didn't make a in your face ad when both Sonic Superstars and Super Mario Bros. Wonder came out the same week and we all know who would still win. It's just another marketing hype Sega will do for dumb fan-bases on social media to point out the negatives of a certain game that will eventually sell more than the competitor itself.
