It's pretty easy to avoid. I don't mind watching it, I just have it on in the background and tune out for things that don't interest me. Like the yearly "Here's Kojima taking 15 minutes to waste everyone's time by showing off his latest Hollywood friend and not much else" segment. There are usually some decent trailers and announcements.
With that said, it is a very safe, lame, and sterile stream of advertisements masquerading as an awards show. Still, since it's live it's the closest thing we get these days to any sort of interesting E3-esque chaos. The era of carefully prepared pre-recorded streams has largely stamped that out. Remember when that dude snuck on to the stage when Elden Ring won GOTY? It was dumb but still interesting.
