Then I suggest you expand your horizons or look in more than the one direction. I did mention there are many of those that compliment the original, but there are more than a few that surpasses the original. I am not afraid to admit this, nor be blinded nostalgia. I take things with an open mind, and give most remakes their fair shakes. Also, Oneechanbara Origin is better than the two original games on PS2. That game is literally a combination of 1 + 2 (the first game is complete and total ass), with a streamlined and much more coherent story, and Aya and Saki actually have much better developed relationship with a heartwarming and bittersweet pay off.I never saw a remake that eclipsed the original game
The best I've seen was Nier Replicant Ver. 1.2244... that is in general better than the original, but has stuff like a middle story added that while good for a play, becomes rather tedious and hurts the pacing in subsequent playthroughs, and an extra ending that is divisive, plus some other less important stuff.
I hated RE4 on the gamecube, I only bought it for the cool chainsaw controller, and I still hate it.I never saw a remake that eclipsed the original game. The Dead Space remake exemplifies why I don't trust remakes, and curiously my main beef is exactly the zero gravity sections. I understand that the original made you nauseous, but the zero g traversal is a serious step down in the remake. It breaks the 10th chapter boss when you can just fly off and avoid his attacks and reduces the tension overall when you can just get the hell out of where you are when you hear necromorphs in zero gravity sections and position yourself in a safer position, instead of frantically looking around you to find them before they're on you.Dead Space Remake surpasses the original for me too. I like OG Dead Space, but the Remake pays proper tribute, and enhances the experience/gameplay quality (changes how you get weapons by actually exploring the ship, instead of most being handed to you as soon you get them), but changes just enough or give a few twists in the story to keep things interesting. DSR is even more like a 3rd person version of System Shock 2, and I couldn't be any more happier if I tried. You can explore the entire Ishimura as much as you want. The backtracking actually awesome and there is a security level system/clearance to keep interesting. The first game is still good, but parts of it make it hard for me to go back and play. No to mention, the way 0 gravity sections work in the original makes me nauseated, while remake doesn't it. I know it's more of a personal/health thing for me, but I appreciate that.
I liked the original Resident Evil 4 and RE4 remake looks great, but I didn't like the demo. Especially the scripted scene of the encounter with the first villager that doesn't hint that I couldn't avoid him grabbing me and made me spend a lot of bullets thinking I could, and still got hit. Also thought, from what I've seen, that the art direction is significantly better in the original.I hated RE4 on the gamecube, I only bought it for the cool chainsaw controller, and I still hate it.
But come along RE4 2023 remake, it was like a ray of light came down from God and hit my laptop, that game is GREAT!!!

I can see that. The Grace sections drag a bit.Trust me ,I agree the slow HORROR aspects of RE are better. but to be honest in RE9
im wishing for more leon. grace kinda sucks, i guess thats the point
I think in Resident Evil 9 Capcom wanted a sandwich of RE 7 and RE 4 remake with Grace and Leon. And this is what we've got.But yes, RE 1 and two are great, and 7 is the tops for me so far. Im loving 9, but grace just sucks.
I know thats the idea, but would a real fbi agent be so useless?

I an so with you there. For me RE7 brought the series back to the original horror. I like the new leon 2023+ moves, but the Baker family in RE7 was so terrifying, and it was sadder when i found out that they were just a normal Louisiana family before...I think in Resident Evil 9 Capcom wanted a sandwich of RE 7 and RE 4 remake with Grace and Leon. And this is what we've got.
Funnily enough I love RE 7 above all the others, but the combat, for me, gets pretty frustrating because it's hard, not so much with the boss fights, but with the goo monsters, especially later on the ship.
Im all for it !!I think you're onto something there
Instead of remaking these old games everyone loves and putting little QoL in and taking out all the funny typoes everyone loves
How about taking old games that never got released in America like Chaos Seed and remaking that
They did it with Live-A-Live, a game with far less variety and not nearly as interesting mechanically. How about Energy Breaker?
or here's the thing I'd like to see:
Take some old ass game that had potential but lacked the programming skill to make it as good as it could have been, reworking the code, and making them good games? There's literal thousands of games like this, that with just a little extra programming or by rewriting the programming from the ground up, could serve to breathe new life into all this wasted potential.
Can't think of one to save my life, go fucking figure.![]()
I think we are F***** bro, after Front Mission 3, I have NO faith in these new remakes. Except RE4 2023Im all for it !!
I played so many flawed gems that were extremly rough and the potential was there but those games suffered from " death from thousand cuts " -syndrome .
Or they had an original concept how the game should be but the developer set a deadline in the worst possible time and a huge amount of content was cut which just needed some polishing or gameplay changes that neutered not only the game immensly but made the game extremly boring and tedious too .
Some games like Advent Rising are an absolute cluster-fuck of designs , gameplay shifts and technical screw-ups that it is actually awesome onbits own but is that frankenstein monster that doesnt know what it actually is and doesnt know what it can be .
The original highly beloved classics dont need remakes . These unknown , bad and potentially cool games need the remake treatment badly . If it was used like this , the Game-industry wouldnt go the shitter how it is nowadays . Even trying to revive cancled projects would spark my joy again .
Everything I'm hearing is more of a ymmv or a you problem. I find a zero gravity section is much better in the remake, and you're not changing my mind at all. Once again, I get actual nausea from the original. Good for you for being like most people who can handle it fine.Snip
It's clear she's a dust jockey from the beginning. Not an actual field agent. The FBI has desk jockeys real life who either seem no action or little action at all. Grace is clearly not someone like Saga Anderson, and that's okay, and I enjoy the contrast. Also, you get plenty of sections as leon. The whole Raccoon City section ( which will take you a while on your first play through) and first part of the umbrella lab.But yes, RE 1 and two are great, and 7 is the tops for me so far. Im loving 9, but grace just sucks.
I know thats the idea, but would a real fbi agent be so useless?
There are elements of RE2R as well and both sections are done great. I've already done my new game plus run. It's funny once you know where everything is or look at the documents that have been saved, the puzzles and searching for a specific key items go by even faster. Just like almost any other RE game.think in Resident Evil 9 Capcom wanted a sandwich of RE 7 and RE 4 remake with Grace and Leon. And this is what we've got.
No we are not. One crappy remake doesn't dictate everybody else's remakes. Get that whiny doomer shit out of here and take it like a real man. Wait and watch and just have actual realistic expectations. And not just blind cynical 'expectations'. Once again, i've seen way more good and great ones than terrible ones. Front Mission 3 shores, hell doesn't dictate Capcom's quality on their recent output. They also still have plenty of original titles coming out this year.I think we are F***** bro, after Front Mission 3, I have NO faith in these new remakes. Except RE4 2023
I agree, Ill give it an 8. But once again RE7 gets a 11 in my book.Yup still all in for remakes...
Since RE discussion has engaged above, I returned to inform everyone, RE9 is still the most 8/10 experience. that is all.
Actually I'm thinking of dropping my personal score to a 7.
Does it matter what I give it? no, do you give a fook? probably not.
Awaken from the honeymoon phase, can you truly give this a 9 or a 10?
It's over.
That's fine, I appreciate that you can see the pros and cons at least.I agree, Ill give it an 8. But once again RE7 gets a 11 in my book.
Yes, I may as well join in, one final time. (just the mainstream ones)Since Jelly and I wanna talk RE, here we go.
I am A BIG LOVER of the old slow scary RE so I love 1-3
zero is ok,I guess but it's a zero.
I hated four, like I have stated before, I bought it for the cool chainsaw controller.
Now the remake of RE4 in 2023 kicks ass.
After 4 I had no desire to plat 5 or 6. My bad, maybe they are great
I dont care you are on a ship shooting blob monsters in an action game,
thats not RE. For me 7 brought that old school RE back with new modern touches.
And the Baker's are terrifying. thats why I give RE7 an 11. Village also kicks ass.
I guess I just liked Ethan as the protagonist
Super Chinese World 1-3 (and the Famicom titles before it) could benefit greatly from this. Now that I think about it..Im all for it !!

Funny, I just watched two Yooter videos about Quest64.I thought of another one!
Quest 64
But with a reinserted plot, npcs, companions/party members and all the rest of the stuff that they had to cut from this game. But also, it would retain its old graphics and even the 4:3 aspect ratio... and have an n64 release!
Also, Glover
That one could actually stand to benefit from a remake in the actual sense, if the gameplay is handled correctly, however I shudder to think how badly they would drop the ball when it comes to the game's atmosphere.
Those all sound like excellent ideas.Wario Land
Interrupt the Wario Ware series because it's running out of steam, and have Wario go back to treasure hunting again. Whether be the Super Mario Bros. formula, the Wario Land 2-Shake it formula by getting the main treasure at the end and complete the stage to progress the story. But add Waluigi and Mona this time for a 2-4 player co-op platforming adventure with a few puzzle solving elements.
A Metroidvania formula with a Wario & Shantae crossover which the plot involes Wario and Captain Syrup get magically transported to Sequin Land. Wario thinks he can find treasure there, but meets Shantae and thinks she can grant Wario three wishes, even though Shantae is a 1/2 Genie, hijinx insue. Meanwhile Captain Syrup teams up with Risky Boots to destroy Scuttle Town and finding a special treasure that will make both Syrup and Risky the richest pirates of Sequin Land.
