Remakes\Enhanced Ports you'd actually want

I’d love a remake or a spiritual successor to Conker’s Bad Fur Day. It never got the recognition it deserved from Big N, and that Xbox remake… ugh. That’s not Conker. I want CONKER.
That planned sequel they were working on back then? I still wish they had released it.
Is that really too much to ask? (Maybe.) ::huhsonic
there is...

It's not a remake, but its something cool at least

NONE, NO REMAKES OR REBOOTS
LEAVE MY NOSTALGIA ALONE

A remake of Shining Force III would be my dream, but that has zero chance of happening given what happened to Sega and Camelot.

I'd take a spiritual successor to Skies of Arcadia too. Sega did nothing for it's 25th anniversary so I have little hope of anything new.

SEGA hates money.

No one can take away your nostalgia. Only you can do that to yourself. Also, not all reboots/remakes/re-imaginings are bad, nor 'soulless'.
Just 97% of them.

The remaining 3% are lucky accidents.

Not really on either (a "lucky accident" for some, yet most of the successful ones knew what they were doing ), and YMMV. I've seen the good, the decent, the bad, and the okay. The bad ones, they happened, but it doesn't ruin the great remakes/reboots/remasters out there. I take the good with the bad, and move on. I am not going to waste time getting upset whenever one of these three happens. If it's bad, then I usually have the original to go back and play.

What are some games that you'd like to see a remake, reboot, or at the very least a spiritual successor to?

Myself?
-Decap Attack. Absolutely loved it when I was younger and feel like it, with enough modern polish, could easily turn into a winning title
-Super Baseball 2020. Another one that I love (so much that I bought the physical cart of the Genesis version). It's always baffled me that this has never been apart of any of SNK's Neo Geo re-releases when it easily eclipses Baseball Stars in scope. I mean, come on, you have FRIGGIN LAND MINES IN THE OUTFIELD!

What about you guys?
I think you mean the game Magical hat no buttobi turbo! daibouken. Decap Attack was an aberration created in the west, and up to this day I doubt they had the right to do that.

I would want to see many remakes but as I know they would change them to the point their classic magic would disappear, I am opposed to that idea. I had enough with the recent Biohazard remakes, as they had no right to remove tank controls.

I'd love to see remakes of some of my favourite Gamecube classics. The Sonic Adventures come to mind, as do Pokemon Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness. I've always wished for a more modern Knights of the Old Republic as well. Oh, and I'd love to see the return of Sonic Riders.

What game would you like to see have a remake,

why would you want it remade,

and what sort of remake (like just graphics update, QOL improvements, so many changes it is really a completely new game etc etc etc)

To get started, I'd like a remake of Warcraft 1, with graphics and controls like Warcraft 2 but otherwise unchanged.

Well, maybe enhanced resolution for the cut scenes too

Original X-Com would be a cool remake. New X-Com is good but the original/terror from the deep have way more depth. Mostly just graphical I would say. There is ofc openxcom out there to play more easily/with different resolutions but a graphical overhaul would be cool. I do love the original sprites too though

All of the pixel Remasters & tactics but with all the additional Advance content and the option to switch between PR, Advance, and Original graphics (as in actually the original graphics this time ::angrygenjin) for Final Fantasy 1-6.

Tactics specifically I would like to say, while I enjoyed the gameplay-based content from the PSP botch-job, which ruined the game's geography in a topographical way few seem to really notice; you just can't hit around corners or near walls as well (or in some cases, poorly; though more often than not you would have clearance if you could see past it) and it seems hardly any but the most hardcore of Final Fantasy Tactics fans even noticed this difference; when you do, you see the remakes as the cheap knockoffs of the original Playstation version that they are, and it's hard to get through it once you do.

There's also the matter of the mock Olde-English and british accents, which I can't stand. Originally, they spoke basic, modern-day English, and I can't see why that's not acceptable in a medieval fantasy setting. It doesn't base in England, so I don't see why a piece of fiction couldn't just retain the more easily readable, relateable, and in my opinion, better-written modern English style they originally retained. It was perfect, and to change that takes away from the percieved quality of the game by the fans of the original, more often than not in my experience.

Final Fantasy VII, but take the stupid O-face mouths off everyone or use the fucking mod to change to the HQ models, for christ's sake. Even if it's still just the PC port, those changes please otherwise it's practically unplayable to me. I cannot take seriously a person like Sephiroth staring at me angrily going like 😯

Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy 8, 9, and 10 were aight; aside from the buttons for Speedup or Encounters Off being inconsistently placed between every game. As far as I've played, nothing is horrible or ruinous to the game.

Chrono Cross: I hate the new models and portraits and they should have just used the originals.

Sid Meier's Pirates!, it's been over 20 years since the last remake. Keep it simple but modernize stuff like the dancing game and bring back ship v. town battles.

Gun.Smoke, I don't even know what I'd do with it, though. I don't know enough about modern bullet hells to know if it would translate well that way, but I also don't know that just making more of that original game would play in 2026, either.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, Planescape Torment, and maybe Icewind Dale. I know classics are mostly untouchable but I really think the Infinity Engine games could use an update that's not just Beamdog splashing paint all over the place. Also Arcanum as a bonus, even if its not technically infinity engine it looks just like one

Fallout 1 and 2 remastered, but absolutely no changes besides graphics and music quality, not even tactical life improvements. Ian shooting you a bunch, blocking doorways, and getting ripped in half by mutants is an integral wasteland experience.

I'm a little confused here, but assuming I'm reading you correctly; I feel the exact opposite. The archaic-style English from the original PS1 script was so much more immersive than the PSP script..

The Operative: Who Wants to Live Forever

Bring graphics and gameplay up to the HD/4K era. Leave the story alone, its good as it is

So many early monolith games like Operative could be amazing on modern tech; a new Blood, Shogo, Operative, or F.E.A.R would be wonderful. Such a shame what happened to that studio

I know its not the same thing but I found the horror game Tormenture inspired by Adventure and the Atari 2600 in general to be a surprisingly fun and enthralling experience.

Holy shit a Shogo mention in the wild. Me and my best friend in High-school got the 2 pack of this and Septerra Core way back in the Day.

And with that mention Septerra Core with updated graphics and bug fixes would be amazing.

And Parasite Eve, updated graphics and a more difficult setting.

No, you just validated my point here.
The fake, mock Olde-English style and british accents sound hokey, made-up, and ridiculous just trying to force itself to sound that way while missing the mark completely.

Legend of Dragoon-

No, you just validated my point here.
How does someone disagreeing validate your opinion?
After having just now examined bits of both scripts, I agree with them. The Shakespearean tone really enriches the localization and makes it feel more authentic to the setting of Ivalice in a post FFTA & FFXII franchise.
On top of that, the PSX has errors, typos, and name inconsistencies that are corrected in the more professional WotL team's update.

Here's a nice blog doing a little comparison of the versions to the original Japanese and the instances in which WotL's flowery language better represents the subtle differences in the level of respect the characters speak with to each other or the archaic grammatical structure of certain lines.

In the end it's just preference or English reading capability, but the newer translation is no less faithful and is technically better done since it fixes the issues from the original one.

Silent Hill 4 - The Room

Considered the 'black sheep' universally amongst the classic PS2 SH line up,
by the time this originally spooked or homes back in Sept 2004, most of Team Silent had already disbanded from Konami.
This left Yamaoka, which in a strange ( & probably desperate choice) was appointed to oversee the project in addition to producing all of the audio.
Whilst the final release was a rather unique experience and maintained certain aspects of classic SH, it wasn't without its strange quirks & flawed design decisions, this internal leadership change was possibly the biggest culprit (Respect to Yamaoka regardless, musical genius and all)

Why is now the perfect time to remake this?

Contrary to internet talk on the town, I at least believe that Bloober Team can absolutely deliver a decent remake here, with what was proven with the Silent Hill 2 remake, they can use this as a base, add a few quality of life fixes, remove aged annoyances and totally revitalize this 'black sheep' status title for a new, modern, fresh spin.

Silent-Hill-4.jpg

What I want to see changed:

-No limited inventory & running back and fourth to the item box to deposit & retrieve. (same goes for certain, basic items not stacking when they should)

-Remove or at least shorten the escort mission with Eileen.

-NPC's should still follow you through any door even if said NPC is far away off-screen.

-Change the SFX of the burping nurse, whilst humorous on the surface level and probably has some symbolic significance there, it also detracts from the tone.

-Change or be more flexible with how ghosts are dealt with, sure you need a special sword item to pin them down, but this requires inventory space which is very limited, and the item itself, scarce. (on that note, apply this entire point with hauntings as well)

Don't worry.... it's just a dream, remember?

Will we escape room 302 in the future? most likely... or so I like to believe.
through the dense fog, Konami has a solid fix on the divided teams currently and with Bloober helming the remake drip feed, everything feels like a matter of time.

but until then, I am afraid.... you, are trapped inside the room.

21......

21 sacraments.

Fin.

I'd like somebody to salvage the wreckage that is never finished Steam Bot Chronicles 2 and release it. I'd also like to see the original conception for FF15/Vs 13 realized in a finished format.
