I screwed up.
There. That's it.
What you want more? Okay.

I'm quite irritable and I have a few people who tick me off. One of these groups of people I hate is the Halo Doomers: A bunch of people who have declared war on Halo Studios, formerly 343 Industries, for what they consider the mismanagement of the Halo game series.
It goes without saying that on the one hand... I do think they have a point. I frequently play Halo Infinite Multiplayer, and I do think Halo Studios are making minor strides in improving their reputation, but the fact is that these strides not nearly enough, as over seven years they have screwed up in some pretty baffling ways, such as Halo 5: Guardians, ignoring the plot of 5 for Infinite and resolving it off-screen, firing the people who designed an in-house engine, and the Halo TV show (it's Adi Shankar levels of bad). They screwed up, and the efforts they're making to redeem themselves might be too little, too late.
However, I despise them. Why? Because they have become so addicted to shitting on Halo Studios that it's practically all they think of 24/7. They keep on regurgitating the same talking points, spewing forth the same amount of annoying visceral bile, and seem to lack any constructive argument.
So, once Halo Studios announced Halo: Campaign Evolved for a 2026 release date, it was inevitable that Halo Doomers here would take up much of the discourse on this thread. I should've known this would happen. I should've stayed clear of these various threads. But I didn't. And now, after posting so many negative responses to Halo Doomers, I realise that... I had become like them. Too much hate is just as shitty as the thing it's hating on, and I had became so addicted to the negativity that I wound up becoming just as much of a hateful, mad, raving dingus as they are, if not moreso. In fact, I might have even gone after people who probably aren't even all that bad and just so happen to dislike how the franchise was mismanaged.

I don't know if anyone will accept my apology, but... I'm sorry. I let my ego and attitude get the better of me, and I own my bad behaviour. You want to doompost about Halo, Halo Sutdios and Unreal Engine 5? Go on. Know that I will simply hit the "ignore" key from here on out and stay clear of such threads. It's my fault for being so headstrong and letting my own hatred get the better of me.

it was funny that my profile picture was some sort of obvious bungie fanboy flag to you but other than that don't be so hard on yourself.

Halo is what sold Xboxes. Halo is a big part of what sold Xbox 360. Right from the moment Halo 4 released you could tell something awful happened. There were some hit and misses since then. And I actually had fun playing Halo 5 on a Series X because the performance was so much better that the game felt good to play. That was the end of finding enjoyment in Halo. The first three games will never be matched. And any sort reboot/remaster crap they're doing now is nothing more than a soulless cashgrab.

Now THAT is what I would call: "engaging with the argument!"
There was still a little bit of implied "mind-reading" in the "24/7" part, but when couched within an otherwise mature & very reasonable explanation like that... Cool..

this is why i wonder how i'd feel if i played any Halo past 2,
cause i love halo 2 a whole lot it was the most fun i've had with friends.

We realize

Anyways, this is the classic post of:

"Yes, I realize that less than the span of time Bungie build a titan, they destroyed is in the never ending chance of profits and 'broader audiences'. But we still need to give them a chance! Enjoy the slop!"

Nah, me and many refuse: we bought Halo 4 that was made to attract CoD and changed everything, we bought the MCC that was a mess until their relaunch it on PC, we bought Halo 5 when it was a e-sport trend chaser and we even bought Halo Infinite that was trying to be fortnite and have a really aggressive monetization.

But worry not, we forgive you, because the new batch of Halo players always knew Halo as this outsider FPS that was nitche, not the titan that dominated CoD and BF in its first games. And thats why we are hold them more accountable: we know Halo can be so much better, but it is not, because people running it just want to get a quick buck from fans, while trying to be something else.

In short: Halo was a trend creator, not a trend chacer

I'm really not trying to be a Halo hater, if i seem that way, know that it is out of love for the franchise if anything, even if i dislike the remake so far, maybe I'm just not part of that target audience & heck we all have that flexibility to choose anyway, if you or anyone are optimistic for this remake, fair play.

Yea, I don't know what I was thinking with that bit, either. I must've been in the heat of the moment.

I myself have no problem with Campaign Evolved, but I think I need more footage to judge if I will buy it, preferrably on a sale, or not. Combat Evolved is just such a fantastic game, and because of the pedigree, and Halo Studios' past history, I'm not at all surprised people like you are doomposting about it.

Reality check: Halo was never that good
Disagree, but that's the best part of opinions: We can all think our own way on works of fiction.

Want me to further engage with the argument, specifically regarding Unreal Engine 5?

I was just pointing out the pleasant contrast between your OP in this thread, and the straight-up Ad Hominem filibustering from the previous thread..
Well, personally, I understand the frustrations with UE5. It's very much tailored for graphics companies to pimp their shit and hype up their new graphics cards and the crutches said cards use to look better than they are. Unfortunately, it's also very versatile and easy to use. So Unreal isn't going anywhere anytime soon because of its ease of use and wide availability. And this is both a blessing and a curse.

Some games powered by UE5 look splendid and make upgrading your system worth it 100% (Silent Hill 2 2024), but most other titles make the crutches it uses very obvious, regardless of the game's actual quality (RoboCop: Rogue City). So I'm not surprised there's a vocal minority of people who hate the engine.
