PSP PSP: The Quintessence of Handhelds

I bought my first PSP ever around Christmas 2024 after watching a lot of retro game content on YouTube. Funnily enough, after a full year of using it, I find that most of the time, it just becomes my MP3 player. Of course, I also play games on my PSP, but around 70% of the time, it is used to listen to music, not playing games. I also find myself gravitating more towards PSX games as well, with Gran Turismo 2 (modded) being the game that I think I’ve spend the most time on. It’s pretty great that the PSP is more than just a PSP game player, it can do much more than that.

For me, being able to play PlayStation 1 games on a portable device was one of its best features. And many people tend to forget.

What's more, PlayStation 1 games looks amazing on the PSP.

I've had my PSP (1001 model) since about 2005, but haven't used it in over 10 years. Recently unearthed it at my parent's house, and just placed an order for just about everything I need to make it functional again! I'm really excited. Unfortunately it was without a charger and the battery had long since turned into a "spicy pillow," but the UMD for Daxter was still in it!

Give some love for that PSP and that Daxter.

The PSP was my ultimate multimedia device. If I didn't feel like playing games on it, I had all my music, podcasts and videos on the memory card. It replaced my iPod.

PSP Go it's still my main handheld console for the go (ha! words play here). I have there tons of games, PSP games (MGS PW it's one of my favourites games there, a beast), PS1 games (Have the chance to play FF IX or Symphony of the Night in portable mode it's awesome) and lots of other retro games. Truly a great handheld console.

Did you know the Gran Turismo Cheats?
They found 14 years after the launch of the game.
They've been confirmed working on both the European and US releases of the game.

Add all cars to the collection, in their first colour: Hold Start + Select + R: Up, Right, Left, Left, Square, Up, Right, Right, Up, Triangle, Right, Up

Set money to 99,000,000 Cr: Hold Start + Select + L: Down, Square, Down, Left, Right, Triangle, Right, Square, Up, Down, Up, Down

That's so cool, always love when an old game has some fresh secrets uncovered! God damn that screenshot is also absurd, I know that is probably upscaled, but even still that looks unbelievably good for a PSP game. Polyphony always astounds me, just wish the Vita sold well enough for them to put a Gran Turismo on it :(

The best portable in my opinion, especially in current day. So much fun to be had with this little, light, pockeatable, very overlooked handheld.

if you believe me. I haven't played it in 19 years, the last time was in 2007 at a relative's place abroad. last days I bought a used one in very bad condition with a cracked display and without battery. for about 10 euros. I ordered the parts online and restored it and I'm waiting for some more new parts to arrive. I don't want to change his shell. I heard that it's not the good idea because some resistors or capacitors can get damaged and it will crash. otherwise, I collect old consoles, so I got a damaged Nds before and repaired it
