Let's just say that there's a reason why Arkane came out in interviews and declared that their 2017 Immersive Sim RPG, also titled "Prey", was not an INO reboot of Apogee's swansong like people thought it was at the time.

Long ago, Square Enix had a team working on a game called Fortress that was going to be a spin-off of Final Fantasy 12. Sucks they decided to scrap it, I love all their games set in Ivalice.

And idc if this counts or not, but Mother 4/Oddity. Winter 2014 has been right around the corner for 11 years now and I'm NOT TAKING THE BAIT ANYMORE!!! (jk I'll always hold out that it'll actually be released and its not just an elaborate hoax)

And of course you have the goat, the king of all letdowns: Mega Man Legends 3. Oh what could have been.

There was this bried period in 2017 when it looked like arena shooters were making a comeback, but they all fizzled out..
I tried quakr champions and it had overwatchesque classes and ultimates, including a class thats the fastest. In a game about movement.

Yeah, I got excited as well. Im not an ultra fan of ultra speed always jumping arena shooters like Quake 3, but I still have a soft spot for the more "grounded" ones. And yeah, Quake Champions dropped the ball big time. I miss them in their prime as well, i dont know why I was so scared of downloading "customs maps" when logging in servers lol, I thought they would hack my PC.

I would only suggest you to play Quake 2 - 3 or go straight to Unreal Tournament 99 or 2004. You can check if there is an interesting server on GameTracker:

Just to note that with some of the recent fan updates, you can play UT99 online fairly easily now, pretty much out of the game's online interface. Some interesting modes out there (I suck so badly at all of them - but the sniping maps are quite cool!)

Oh, yeah I have played and it is so easy, like literally just an installer (for windows) and wine+installer on linux (there is .tar, but I never managed to make it work. Skill issue I know lol)

Just use it and it works like charm, I have play my share on server and is really fun. And iirc you can also now download the game legally because Epic was cool with it.

I still watch the gameplay demo for Star Wars 1313 every now and then. I really wanted a Uncharted-esque SW game, and this just felt like it was answering my dreams. I don't think any existing SW game has come close to filling this itch for me. SW Outlaws was the closest one but it's a pretty bloaty game and the story didn't really grab me.

We kinda got a second chance with Amy Hennig's project with EA Visceral but that got cancelled too. Still hurts me after all these years but it is what it is.

I love the TTRPG and never got to play Cthulhu Now . And this game would scratch my itch for cthulhu content . Its stumg a little bit but great cthulhu games had always the problem to be released . I mean the whole debacle about the sinking city alone tells everything.

I like edgy stuff and the gane just speaks to my taste . Sad how this game got cancled . Could be a cult classic .

Star Wars Battlefront 3. The leaked Wii build to be specific. I want to play it on hardware so bad and I actually have a hardware setup! It's maddening! If the modders making it playable can try removing all the debug crap maybe then it can be playable on retail equipment without needing double ram!

For me, nothing would please me more than to see RE4's development materials combined together into a finished version of what it was going for. There are 3 versions, the Castle, Hallucination, and Zombie versions, that were sadly discarded as the development moved towards action for the release version instead of the survival horror of before. The story was to advance the story of the prior sequels in a way that was truer to the established series convention imo. It had the potential to surpass RE REmake as the best survival horror game of all time. So to resurrect it and finish it, with the same director and dev team, would do great justice to the classic Resident Evil I believe.

Steambot Chronicles 2 is the eternal "one that got away," for me. What an absolute legend of a game that would've been. And, it was something the PS3 desperately needed in its lineup.
