Hey there! Have you guys ever played a videogame and stopped for a moment, thinking... Oh wait I know this guy...

Yesterday I just got John Carpenter, director of 1982's movie "The Thing", playing in the PS2 videogame "The Thing" as Dr. Faraday (a guy imprisoned in a cage). Look at the guy, perfectly low-poly modeled in a twenty years old game. He's so lifelike with his cute little moustache... Take a hint, modern day Bethesda... Now that's a NPC I would trust with a good shotgun spared from my inventory.

I also remembered that time when a satanist mechanic pimped my ride with flamethrowers in 2009's Brütal Legend. Voiced and modeled after none other than our beloved batophile from Black Sabbath... Ozzy Osborne.

I know there are plenty other cameos I certainly missed in the stuff I played, so what are your favorite ones?

My favorite has to be the Call of the Dead zombies map from Black Ops I. George Romero is a legend and he plays the big bad in that map. Ray Liotta in the Black Ops II zombies map Mob of the Dead is also pretty good.

I'm sure I'm definitely forgetting some major ones, but those are just off the top of my head.

Astral Chain has a police office dog very similar to Panta btw.

I think he's the opposite of cameo, he is the main plot.
I have 0 clue of his plot, but as far as I know he is not the main character you control, so for me it's a cameo lol.

That's fine.

I can't say anything without spoiling it, but the main story of the game is his story, basically.

I'm sure that's why Persona 2 Eternal Punishment doesn't have a remaster because Panta is owned by Namco
I mean it did for PSP
Also even if Atlus couldn’t get the rights to this Panta statue, they could just replace it with one of their franchises and be done since Tail Concerto is irrelevant today

Also the many cameos in Etrian Odyssey are wild. A few characters from Trauma Center, Gradriel from Princess Crown, characters with SMT hairclips and headphones, etc

I absolutely love Guillermo del Toro and his films. I loved his character in Death Stranding as well, but the only thing I didn't like is that he didn't voice the character.

I believe it was part of the controversy after the cancellation of Silent Hills

when neku and the gang from the world ends with you show up in dream drop distance

Karnov is my soul animal. Love whenever this large Russian man shows up. He's made countless cameos in Data East games but he's popped up in other places too.

there's a lot I won't list them all

They're not cameos really but the amount of high-profile English names in the Fable series is pretty cool, plus Richard Ayoade and Matt King in the soon-to-be released reboot game.

As soon as I heard that Richard Ayoade was playing a part, I began hoping that they'll hide a Matt Berry, Chris O'Dowd and Katherine Parkinson Easter Egg in the new reboot.

Unrelated but I thought it was kind of strange how they used Peter Serafinowicz to promote Dark Souls II when his character was literally like five lines in total.

Eric Idle in Discworld 1 & 2 comes to mind. Tony Robinson also.

I liked Ayoade a lot in the IT crowd and I saw some of the goofy gadget man series and some Youtube tv shows, but I dont know any other comedy project he got involved in. You got any recommendation?

Last One Laughing UK. My face and stomach genuinely hurt after each episode. You will not regret.

He's also in most of the Big Fat Quiz of the Years which come each New Year's.
