It's been a day, give or take a few hours, so I figure a handful of hints is in order.
1 - Have a screenshot with some gameplay

2 - Ranmy nailed the platform. There may have been ports to AtariST and DOS (though I'm not so sure about the latter) but that's besides the point. I played and screencapped the Amiga version.
3 - The game has a number in its title.
4 - It was developed in New Zealand of all places.

Someone's gonna post the correct answer within 10 minutes now.
