Pettiest reason(s) you've dropped a game?

It hasn't happened in a very long while but if I can't turn off the bloom, glare, blur and glow effects I might drop out of game, I don't ALWAYS do that but I've done it with a few games that I did eventually go back to enjoy. I hate modern lightning effects. They're always oversaturated, I really dislike how everything glows so unaturally in modern games but especially in remakes. That look is naturally repellent to me. Small side note but it's even worse than they upscale and "improve" the aesthetics on top of that, does Tidus really need to look like he's taken the bogpill?

The second is definitely unskippable cutscenes, or rather games that are pretending to be a movie half of the time. I enjoyed MHW when I was allowed to play the game but the cutscenes in that game are just absolutely brutal, I can understand some people might care about the story (and I do the first time I play) but after a while it becomes intolerable, especially if you're used to playing the older games.

FFX has both of these issues lmao. IMO some old ingame models looked nothing like official art and FMVs, like Rinoa in remaster looks more like herself... Squall? Not so much. I like Yuna's skin in HD remake more than in those mods that bring back PS2 graphics.

And yeah first thing most people do if they change graphics settings at all is going into options and turning off motion blur and film grain, then depth of field and lens flare depend on the game... The "real is brown +bloom oversaturation" craze was a huge problem at some point.

Modern games are more subtle with these effects... mostly. Blur is still used to compensate for poor framerate.

I quit because I didn't get my giant cat mount to appear. Not sure if this is petty but I will quit an RPG if I don't want the game to end yet and drop the it for a time then start the game all over again to enjoy the story before saying goodbye. I did this to Shadow Hearts 2, Star Ocean 3, and FF Tactics at least twice.

Escort missions. Even worse when the person you are escorting gets killed later in a cutscene anyway.

I think ten minutes into Skyrim I had to deal with giant spiders in a first-person perspective.

0/10, fuck Skyrim.
there's this game, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, that I think you are going to love

That's honestly adorable, I understand the sentiment well.

Similarly, I dropped Another Code/Trace Memory right at the start when they made you do a fucking SLIDE PUZZLE to progress into the first area. I’ve never even read a summary of the game’s plot — it just disgusted me to think that was the sort of gameplay they were leading with.
This is the kind of answer I'm looking for. I need to read someone's reason for dropping a game and think they're lying, that they're apart of some psyop. This is the sicko shit I live for.
