Wondering which D-PAD do you personally consider the best, between all the controllers/joypad released in bundle with all the base consoles, new or old?

It's still my favorite way to move your hero on screen, if accepted from the game setup; preferred to the analog/mushroom style one

Oh man. I feel like this one could get out of control fast.
Okay, so personally speaking, speaking directly on base console releases, I would probably go with the SNES as I've always felt it has the correct amount of "mush" and precision. Really I've always been torn between that and the Genesis/Megadrive-style pads, but I feel like there are so few instances of the latter being reproduced I would just go with the SNES.

The original PlayStation pad, I have never found a better controller for playing Street Fighter. The d-pad was so smooth and responsive, could "Hadoken" all day long!

From experience, It's the Genesis, then the Saturn. It's wide, responsive, comfy, and very hard to slp up with Inputs for fighting games.

The Famicom's.

Not only have I used MANY variants of it over the years, but it allowed me to play a ton of games that required constant, manic contact with it without ever breaking, slipping or feeling awkward to press for hours and hours.

Many ended up shredding my fingers or jamming my nails, but not Nintendo's.

PS1 gamepad bundled with my PSOne and its D-Pad gave me precision and fun for more than 10 years... I even used it with a PC adapter to play competitive fighting games online. The best one I've had by far. 🧐

I prefer seperate buttons so I can't fatfinger it accidentally. So Joycon d-pad's the 🐐 for me

Snes or the nes. I never really liked the genesis 8-way d-pad. The n64 one is similar but less good than the snes and nes ones. It feels less responsive. The playstation ones have always been decent enough and located in a good spot. The Xbox ones have always annoyed me with their placement. The GameCube one is hands down the worst just because of the size and position. I don't like the the switch joycons at all either. As far as modern controllers go, I'm mostly happy with the d-pad on my 8-bit do controller. It's almost as good as an actual snes controller. Not quite the same but close enough and I have the one with the concave buttons so it feels nearly spot on except for the R and L buttons.
