On the discussion going on in here; this very much is a Final Fantasy fangame at least in its conception and it also very much is strongly unique in its atmosphere. Ocean's games have a very particular vibe in narrative, visuals, gameplay. Cozy, laidback, almost healing, depicting the seaside atmosphere in really quite a unique way. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss a title as a "final fantasy knockoff", as that'd risk losing the chance to fall in love with the unique vision of a developer that's very lovingly channeled through this homage.

Check out Ocean's other games too :)

No not even close to what I am suggesting... I love JRPGS. I am RPG maker maker myself... Im suggesting the classes the animation are virtually identical to a certain Square Enix Rpg and look thats cool dont misunderstand I LOVE that series.... but when you pick 4 characters with classes, animations, and jobs that are essentially the exact same it just seems like this is an FF homage dialed to an 11...
Well, that IS the mission statement of the game, so.

I just think even the classes the animation etc are 100 percent the same as a certain Square Enix Rpg thats cool dont misunderstand but when you pick 4 characters whos classes animations and jobs are 100 percent the same seems like this is an homage dialed to an 11... I am not hating the game I pointing out that its systems down to graphics are identical... I never used this version o0f RPG maker maybe thats down to THIS VERSION of the RPG maker software but unless youve never played FF 1 thru 6 its hard to deny that this is a clone of that.
RPG Maker 2000 (& 2003) are my favorite versions of RPG Maker. It is true that they sometimes tend to rip assets from classic SNES games such as the Final Fantasy ones and Chrono Trigger among others, but when the devs make the games with more custom assets instead of ripped graphics from roms or the default assets they tend to look a lot better than games made using the newer engines. Personally I'm not a fan of the VX to MV versions of RPG Maker. The graphics in those feel more like a fake retro look rather than something that feels more nostalgic. Although if you want to see a game that mostly uses 2003's default assets and does it really well you should check out the game Ara Fell. It was remade using a different engine (Unity I think?) but they kept the graphics mostly the same.

I don't understand your comment. Are you saying RPG Maker should be used for games like those artsy horror walking simulators like Yume Nikki and lb and other arthouse type experimental games? To me games like this one are what RPG Maker should be used for. Turn based RPG games like this. I hate it when RPG Maker isn't used for RPGs. Some of them are neat distractions but that's about all they amount to. I prefer long 20+ hour rpgs instead

When I see a RPG game tagged as Windows I always check if its a RPGMaker game because if so that means I can emulate them on my phone, thanks for adding more of these to the Repo!

Thanks for uploading these RPG Maker games! I used to be pretty active on RPG Maker forums, and I knew Ocean a little, and it's really nice seeing games on here that I haven't thought about in such a long time.

Thanks ::heart I made it from editing a screencap of the 2nd episode. It's not that I don't approve of the engine being used to make different genres (although I kinda made it sound like I did) I just don't like how prominent it has become to the point that it outnumbers the rpg ones by a sizeable margin. It makes it hard to find quality rpg ones when you mostly get recommended and directed to ones that are "atmospheric" visual novel like or walking simulator games. Those are usually pretty short too. Like often less than 3 hours. I like rpg ones that take several dozen hours to beat with an engaging story with interesting characters. My favorite indie jrpg is the classic Japanese RPG Maker 2000 game Seraphic Blue. It's an epic 60 hour jrpg with a complex custom scripted battle system, and hand drawn art for cutscenes, characters, and monsters. With an amazing soundtrack and a story that is very dark compared to commercial jrpgs. I highly recommend it and it's a game I plan to add to the repo eventually. I've been holding off on posting it since I wanna do it justice when I finally get around to it.

edit: also Junji Itō is pretty awesome. I've read a good portion of his manga. Several anthology chapters and volumes and some series. His adaptation of Frankenstein was the best version of it I've seen. I recommend to check into it if you haven't yet.
Seraphic Blue looks great! If you haven’t, you should check out Zaku Zaku Actors, it’s my current big RPGMaker title of choice that I’m playing through.

Thanks RB for starting to collect some of the older great RPGMaker titles here! It’s much appreciated to see them easily accessible besides on rpgmakernet, with how long of an outage that site had.

Not the guy this response was intended for, but I gotta throw my hat into the ring on this one. RPG Maker is a canvas, and it shouldn't JUST strictly be something to make RPGs with despite the naming convention. I know it's silly, but y'know, people make horror romhacks of Mario games for goodness sakes, so why can't people make something with RPG Maker that isn't an RPG? Just some food for thought.

Love the Stolas PFP btw.

Regarding dates, I list the date of release, for archival purposes, the build itself is always the most current.

This is just "terminal fiction"... I "finally" see why "fantasy" games are so popular to play. Not saying its bad .... I like "concluding illusions"... I was just expecting more of an rpg maker thing.

I use it on my PS Vita through the official port of it. It's great but on Vita it has horrible audio issues causing the music to glitch out and stutter terribly. The 3DS port of it doesn't even seem to work at all when I tried it on my New 3DS XL. It just won't even load a single game and just crashes. On PC and Android EasyRPG is the ideal way to play RPG Maker 2000/03 games. There's even a RetroArch core too. Also about soundfonts from the ones in my cloud that I linked I think Reality_GMGS_Falcomod, Roland SC-55, and Arachno are the best ones.
I'll add the whole set as a resource to be linked to posts, once Mega stops being stupid.

I love EasyRPG. Best way to play these RPGM games on the go (for the most part).

You should note that many of these RPG Maker 2000/2003 games heavily feature midi format as the music. Even games that have mp3 or wav sometimes also have midi for some of the tracks. EasyRPG has a built-in FM midi synth based on the PC-98's FM sound chip. That's all well and good but PC-98 often doesn't sound right for the music in a lot of these games compared to a GM or OPL3 based soundfont. EasyRPG easily allows for changing the soundfont to one provided by the user in the settings of it. I recommend checking out from my personal collection of soundfonts on my cloud to find one you like. (You can mention this in the post description of some of these games if they actually have .mid for music in them)
