Within the opening second of the original Panzer Dragoon on Sega Saturn you get the tingles. That was a game made with love by passionate people. It's so rare these days for a game to be made with that much passion.I like PD/PDZ/PDO all quite a bit. I'm bad at all of them, but there's a certain something about the presentation across the series that I can't put my finger on, but it hits a spot that I really like and not many other series do that.
PDS might be my favorite RPG ever. It's been awhile since I played it, but I remember being really blown away by it, while also appreciating that it wasn't like 60 hours long. Of all the games I've sold, it's definitely the one I regret the most.
Great series. Aesthetics, gameplay, everything, A+.
No wonder they made one of the most underrated RPGs of all time out of this series, they built such a fantastic world. It;s a total package game. Gobsmacked they have left Orta on Xbox, but given what those bloody hacks at Megapixel Studio/Forever Entertainment are doing to the series, (and House of the Dead) maybe it's for the best.
I boot up OG Panzer Dragoon at least twice a week on retroarch. To me that is THE Sega Saturn game. If someone asks me what Sega Saturn was like, that's where I'm pointing them. Start right there.
I love the Sega I grew up with. Much like Nintendo, I disdain what Sega is turning into. Especially after that horse crap they pulled adding kernel level anti cheat to the PC version of VF5 a while after it was released, making getting a refund for most established players impossible. that is EA/Ubisoft level scumbaggery. We seriously need legislation to address stuff like that and require full refunds in such cases.Hate was a bit of a strong word, the feeling is moreso bitter, but I don't dislike SEGA comepletely.
