What are some old Nintendo franchises that needs a new game or a reboot of the orignal game?

For me, Ice Climber and Balloon Fight. Both games can have potential of getting new games. Balloon Kid which was a Gameboy reboot of Balloon Fight would be a good return with new levels and a 4 player multiplayer, or Balloon Fight 99 which players go through Balloon run dodging lightning and giant fish to reach the goal.

And for Ice Climber, the series can get a new 3D platforming reboot or, a remake of the original with different themed mountains Popo and Nana could explore to rescue their food from the vultures.

What Nintendo IPs do you want to return that never got a new game in years as a reboot or remake?

Does (Advance) Wars count?
I know this series actually did get a remake fairly recently, but that game never got a fair shot with how little Nintendo promoted it. ?

To give an actual answer, I'd love something really out there - Mysterious Murasame Castle maybe? No idea what a reboot of that would actually look like.
Even if it were to end up as something like a Zelda clone the difference in aesthetics alone would have me interested.

There are so many! Honestly, I wish Nintendo would partner with a 'choice' emulator (like Mesen), and sell us premium HD-packs for those games. The whole argument of "ma IP" and "ma license" does not apply to modifications... In other words... SEGA and Nintendo are leaving mountains of cash (including mine) on the table. Who cares where the ROM came from (wink), Nintendo gets a sale (smile).

P.S.
Can you imagine a M2+SEGA or Nintendo❤️Konami campaign? Like Gunstar Heroes: Super Deluxe? OMG it would be such a great way to put all those overstaffed artists to use (including the ones that ruin modern games).

In their defense the planned release was unfortunate to say the least...
They've mentioned in the past that part of the problem they had with AW compared to Fire Emblem is that its harder for players to get invested in nameless grunt units compared to FE's rag-tag group of teenage mercenaries. BUT I think they're missing the woods for the trees - AW had likeable characters in the COs! And I think the tag mechanic in Dual Strike would make a good foundation for something akin to FE's support levels or even something like Persona's social links. Though I don't know if there's much else they could do mechanically with the series as it stands...

BATTALION WARS on the other hand???

they could do a lot with this thing!!

??? uhhh I mean??? I guess they both have....guns??? But unlike hit sci-fi first person shooter HALO, BW is a (loosely) WW2 inspired third-person tactical squad management game. Think Pikmin or Overlord but with guns.

But I can see how you got confused - they look VERY similar.

Oh never heard about that one, gonna check it out.

It's good craic! It started life as a 3D entry in the Advance Wars series (or so the story goes...) but developed its own identity. The character writing is fairly forgettable but the gameplay is solid once you get through the slightly tedious first tutorial chapter (surely inherited wholesale from Advance Wars) - missions are varied, maps are huge, and the shooting combat is tight. The Wii sequel is pretty cool too!

Yeeeah, fate did kind of intervene there...
I do get the conceptual problem a theoretical continuation of the series would face given the preferences of modern audiences and also that they'd need some kind of fresh angle and all, but... man, I just want another campaign of well thought-out skirmishes to play through and get rated on my performance!
Is that so much to ask? ?

Oh and Battalion Wars would be great as well! Man, that one really is forgotten these days.
The first one in particular was great fun. I didn't really like the way the Wii sequel played personally, but I'd imagine a reboot or whatever would iron things out.

Startropics.
Here is a picture of Mike Startropics, the hero of Startropics, inserting bananas into his ears, deafening him for life, thus preventing the release of future Startropics games.

F-Zero would be my choice, no contest. F-Zero GX is a brilliant game and probably my favorite racing game period. I guess they kinda sorta threw the series a bone with F-Zero 99, but I don't feel like Nintendo is in any hurry to make a new F-Zero game. It simply would not sell as well as a Mario Kart game, it's too difficult. Looking it up, GX sold about 1.5 million copies while Double Dash sold about 7 million. MK8D sold 64+ million. Why would Nintendo take a gamble with a game that's guaranteed to not sell as well? It's been 22 years since GX, only old men like me remember and care and brand recognition is sadly an extremely powerful thing that is always taken into account. Ah well, if the series ends with GX it totally ended with a bang. It's aged really well too. Tweak it a bit in Dolphin and you've got one damn good looking game.

I wouldn't say no to Golden Sun or Star Fox either, but I won't hold my breath.

F-Zero
Golden Sun

i doubt a new chibi robo will happen, the devs from skip (rip) are now developing a spiritual sequel in their new studio Tiny Wonder

I would say Punch Out and Kid Icarus.
1+ for Kid Icarus, and I mean the classic Kid Icarus. I believe the formula works, it just needs some tuning to shine to its potential. I think putting more emphasis on it being a shooter platformer would work. Like making arrows faster and have infinite range from the get go and adjusting enemy behavior and quantity to match this.

Also here's a pic of him simply because he's too cute.

Not exactly Nintendo, but man I always wanted a Conkers Bad Fur Day sequel. Not a kids game but I loved that game growing up. Probably wouldn't like it even if they did make a sequel. The game was soo fucking weird and 'unique', I don't think they could live up to it. Plus id like to think my sense of humor has change a little bit over time... who am I kidding I still laugh at fart jokes

-Not Sure Nintendo will be returning the series back.

Big Brain Academy
-There was a new game few years ago, but no one played it, unfortunately.

Chibi Robo
-Doubt the series will return after the dev team are working on a spiritual successor

Cruis'n
-Depends on what Raw Thrills is going to do for the series.

Custom Robo
-Nintendo may pass on that, but they always have secrets up their sleeve.

Duck Hunt
-Hard to believe this didn't get a reboot on Wii with the Wii Zapper. But, Duck Hunt 99 perhaps?

Excitebike
-Another series that I'm sure Nintendo might give the 99 treatment to.

F-Zero
-We have F-Zero 99, but it doesn't make sense as to why Nintendo can't ask Sega to port AX or have them develop the games using the AM2 team.

Golden Sun
-Have Camelot remastered the GBA and DS games with Quality of Life mechanics.

Kid Icarus
-Uprising HD, Sakurai! Uprising HD! And then we'll talk about more entries.

Mother/Earthbound
- The trilogy is fine, though I'd say remake the first Mother game using the clay model artwork that were promoted for the games.

Punch-Out
-There were rumors that the series may not get a new entry due to stereotypical reasons...hmm.

Rhythm Heaven
-A new entry would be great, as well as porting the Wii game and 3DS game in HD.

StarFox
- This IP needs help. Either have StarFox Zero fixed and get remastered, remaster both Adventures and Assault, and make a new entry that's not another StarFox 64 rehash.

Wario Land
-Where do I begin?
•Wario Land Virtual Boy remake. How did Nintendo miss the opportunity to remake it for the 3DS? It was right there!
•Wario Land Shake-It Remastered (Re-Shake)
•Wario Land 6 (Yes, Wario Land 6, since shake it is the 5th entry, though VB Wario Land is Wario Land 1.5, so it should be the 7th entry, yet should be called Wario Land 7...)

Wave Race
-New entry, remaster the Gamecube original.

I saw this thread and I'm adding in my two cents because there is one series I would bring back not for myself, but for my boyfriend who loves the franchise:

Custom Robo.

I remember watching the opening video for Battle Revolution last year and thinking how amazing it looked for something that was 20 years old! I'm personally imagining a reboot in the style of Gundam Breaker 2, 3, or 4 where it's a story about a group of people participating in a robot fighting tournament and things happen during it. Yes, it's simple, but it would be a good way to get new people into the franchise. Not that Battle Revolution's twist was bad, I think just doing a simple tournament plot would work better. Plus, they can do in-game online tournament events like they do with Splatoon.

Yeah, I know it might not happen, but I want to hope that Nintendo will look at the success of Gundam Breaker 4 and want a piece of that pie.

No more remakes

Warioland 4 is the best platformer nintendo ever made, Nintendo even used it for the 3ds ambassador program so I I hope they know its good
Why no more warioland nintendo?Whyy
