Odd quirks you have

Ooohhh, the volume numbers is a real bad one for me. I like my numbers to be even, though when it's close or low enough to one that ends in 0, then it has to be that number. Like 51 will be 50, 58 will be 60 and so on. Sometimes numbers ending in 5 are perfectly acceptable. Not sure when that is, but it just feels right at the time.
I'm the same, it needs to end in 0 or 5.

Every time I crack my knuckles someone in Mississippi’s head explodes into confetti, I don't know it just happens I can't really control it.

Anytime anyone says anything my brain immediately searches for references and spits out the least relevant thing.

No, I don't mean to start a My Hero Academia RP!
I mean personal quirks that are interesting, strange or otherwise noteworthy.

I'll name one of mine: I like sorting things. For any given thing I will create an internal sorting system in my mind and abide by it. For example, appliance remotes: I'll elect a place to leave them at and always make sure they are there when not in use, and properly sorted in some way. In my particular case, I sort by remote control height - the shorter ones on the left, the taller ones on the right in increasing order.

As you can imagine, this (and cases like it) are the source of some internal suffering and frustration for me as most people in my household do not value keeping things organized and in their due places nearly as much as I do, but on the other hand, reiterating my system does make me feel like there is at least some order in the maelstrom of chaos.

So what about you guys? anything you'd like to share?
this is the nexus where the overlapping of autism, OCD, n sociopathy [the latter undoubtedly the worst] lie by my raw observational findings/gathered data (while out partying half the time, no less) - I talk to a very knowledgeable doctor who is among my main Discord circle of chill friends - she left a voice msg explaining the fundamental differences between the 3 (autism/OCD/sociopathy)) n gave me some tips on what to do that might garner the added mental fortitude n guesstimation understanding to keep going through subesquent trials that seem impossible with the ridiculous struggle just to get yourself into the opening-gate of reasonable, humble QoL at aLL....

I pick at the skin around my fingernails, not for any reason I just do. My fingers look like uncooked hotdogs. I’ve tried having something to fidget with, it’s just not the same. Although I’ve found chewing gum helps, I feel like that’s connected to my tendency to sometimes chew on my tongue- ok this getting gross moving on

The usual anxious things like constantly apologizing or trying to make sure I’m not doing anything wrong an stuff along those lines

I’m incapable of having an organized work space, as soon as I sit down the desk will go from completely empty to just completely covered in stuff.

Other quirk that i have is daydreaming. I fantasize about random scenarios of games, series and other medias that i consume, it's like an edit that i do in my mind lol.
I do the same thing constantly - related, when doing any world building or such for my projects I have to throughly fact check my every idea. This has lead me to learning a lot of random stuff

Gosh I feel like half the stuff I do is weird quirks I have ::nervous-prinny

I don’t like eating food without drinking water in advance.

I'm another pacer. Anytime I need to sort my thoughts or go over anything in my head, I begin pacing back and forth. I can do this for hours at a time, depending on how lost in thought I am.

I constantly, and I mean CONSTANTLY, do a drum beat with my teeth. I'm trying to do it less because I think it's part of why I have been having jaw issues.

If I don't do it with my teeth, I do it with my fingers, or my thigh muscles or toes or whatever. I got de rhythm inside me, mon.

I don't think I pace, but I think this is related. Whenever I have to talk about something at length, I tend to stand up or walk, because it feels like it helps convey the idea or whatever.

mmm i dont like things like nutella, dulce de leche or jam on bread that is toasted. Sweets for cold breads and Salty for hot breads.

Other than that... probably me bringing a toy to most places i go now, being a portable console, a plushie or a fidgey toy.

When I eat, i eat things individually, like: i won't touch the meat until i am done with the potatoes, i won't touch the potatoes until i am done with the rice, i won't touch the rice until i am done with the salad, etc.

Another odd one I have, I generally prefer to stand instead of sit whenever practical. I've had multiple occasions when I've been a guest at a person's home and they've thought I was being either rude or odd when I declined an offer to take a seat. I just find standing generally more comfortable.

I generally can’t stand Nutella on its own or even as an addition to some snacks. I generally tend to prefer nutellas that are packed like this. This is a 15g packet so it’s only the size of your palm and is generally just a spoonful. This is really great for a snack and it’s exactly at the point where I’d get tired of Nutella.

Same. I find it not that pleasant.

I generally dislike toasted sliced bread, unless it’s part of a club sandwich where it necessitates it for the recipe.

That’s pretty cute.

I think generally speaking the added grease or burn from toasted bread also has a generally worse bite to it. I feel it’s a bit more satisfactorily to bite into untoasted bread. I think this generally because a lot of the breads that we have here that are local to us are pretty soft and fluffy breads, so I’m more used to that than something crunchy and greasy.

I wish I could send both of you some of my local bread. Shit's magnificent.

Every spring/summer I'm rocking the slide sandals with socks on too, I don't even care if I look like a middle aged boomer.

Nice, I'm glad I'm not the only one. People always look at me really weird when they offer me a seat or whatever and I just stand instead. I'm also really tall, so sometimes it's a purely practical decision since some chairs are not meant for my height.

For my own, whenever I finish brushing my teeth I have to wash my toothbrush off, then give my teeth a brush as I really hate the feeling of toothpaste then wash the brush off again at least 6 times. Afterwards, I always have to wash my hands regardless of them not really being dirty.

Whenever I'm watching a YouTube video, I always have to put my mouse cursor between the two bars of the pause icon then I can watch the video.

For me this goes beyond being a habit. Sometimes I do this obsessively, like how I can’t drink my tea unless I finish my snack, or I won’t eat my sandwich unless I finish my fries.

so from a cultural standpoint this is frowned upon here, less so for being rude and moreso for the social signal it sends. It gives the impression that you’re rushing the person in front of you and trying to place mental pressure on them, most people feel stressed out when a patient or a worker is constantly standing as it sends a signal of impatience.

Of course, this annoyed me greatly, so it took me literal years to fully drop the habit of standing while waiting instead of sitting. It’s one of those weird social things where I inevitably put the needs of others first, which is already part of my inner personality so it’s not like I was complaining. But it definitely took some extensive effort to stop constantly standing. I still occasionally do it compulsively though.

Huh, that's interesting. Here we have somewhat of a stigma for workers sitting, as it supposedly sends a signal of laziness. There's been efforts to change this, however.
