Non-Gaming Hot Takes

It's an intersting discussion; me and my friends often talked about ppl who are just a few years younger being from another dimension and I've always been a weird nerd so being sidelined is fine by me
Millennials in the way I described I only see on the internet or when I went to university, most are normal
I think it helped that I have siblings who were born in 2001 and 2004 (and 1997 but that's too close for my example lol), so I have been able to observe trends I was too old for through them, and many of my friends when I was a kid were a few years older than me.

Ah ok!
I'm 29, which always felt like a weird gray area between generations. Like I can sort of relate to both but feel sort out sidelined by both at the same time. Dunno if it's ever been similar for you but I have friends who have expressed similar sentiments.
Not that I care, though, just a neat observation I've had.
I'm 33 and have pretty much felt this way for years now.

What do you mean with sidelined by the way? Everyone has a different meaning for that, I meant not having much in common

That's kind of like saying movies are popular because some have hot actors in them.
Exactly.

Also sorry but not every anime has fanservice to be popular.

I don't really watch modern series so I cannot be sure but 80-90's wasn't relying on things that appeal to the usual male teenager/young adult.

I suppose I meant it as a sort of less harsh-sounding version of "don't belong" or "overlooked" but I'm tired so it might've been the incorrect word to use.

I can assure you they were pandering to young men back then, as well.

I feel that they were way less present.

We don't see an over reliance on beach episode, harem and other half naked female characters.

Or usually only with OVAs that are aimed at an older audience.

Hell, even older comic had women with tight suits.

I didn't notice many scenes that would make me embarrassed if seen next to people.

I didn't mean it in the literal sense, sorry if my wording was confusing.
I meant more that I can't relate as much as I can relate to different aspects of the age generations I feel "in between", so on a bad day I don't feel like I belong with any sort of age-related peer.
But as I said previously, it really doesn't bother me, it's just an observation I've had, especially as I got older and the age of your peers started varying wildly.

It wasnt! Just curious bc everyone has their reasons

It has been heartwarming to see youngins like family guy when internet millennials turn up their nose at the mere mention

Isn't there entire anime series that are just straight up fanservice? It's allowed on normal tv next to dragonball z. But the character grab each others boobs to say hello, etc.

There's a genre called ecchi which means pervert 8)
Some are made by women funnily enough

Saying anime is popular because of fanservice is like saying video games are popular because of gore. It definitely plays a factor for some, a main draw for others, but it's not universal.

I'm not fan of Ecchi personally.

Too little to take pleasure and too much to watch it with family or other people.

Yeah, that's awfully reductive.

Speaking of ecchi, I never understood its appeal. I don't mind sexy stuff, but if you're gonna make an anime revolving around it, you might as well just make porn.

No, because not everyone likes hentai. Speaking of ecchi, I recently watched the Senran Kagura anime where you can them topless, I would never watch an anime hentai where you can see sex scene.
