Gaming, like any hobbies, has always been a luxury.
I used to see a joke about when a movie had a sad scene being called an "oscar nomination moment".The movies that get award-nominated nowadays are rigged. They need to check specific boxes in order to always win, and i'm not talking about technical things like actors performance and writing, but about the message the movie is trying to pass on. In other words, unless you make the movie the critics want to see, your movie won't get nominated.
Exactly, only that it's not a joke anymoreI used to see a joke about when a movie had a sad scene being called an "oscar nomination moment".

Out of curiosity: when did nowadays start? The movies that get award-nominated nowadays are rigged. Since 2020 to this day. It's been happening gradually over time, but now movies need to check certain boxes to be awarded. Just look at Emília Perez, a movie that won 2 oscars, loved by the critics but hated by the general public because of their awful and a lot of times disrespectful representation of Mexican culture.Out of curiosity: when did nowadays start?
I see. But "oscar bait" has been a term for like 80 years, so...?Since 2020 to this day. It's been happening gradually over time, but now movies need to check certain boxes to be awarded. It's a hot take cause many people today still believes that the judgement for this awards are fair and equal, the exception nowadays being Emilia PerezI see. But "oscar bait" has been a term for like 80 years, so...?

i remember hearing about the stage play doing something really baffling once. a bunch of people paid money for the tickets, only to learn that the play was doing the entire thing outside of the theater for free to anyone who was passing by on the street.Since 2020 to this day. There are people that actually hate A24 movies, i don't know why. They do so many genres, and with a level of quality that you don't see everyday in mainstream Hollywood, that is bound to please most tastes out thereA hot take of mine is that most of A24's films are abject dogshit and not worthy of mention. Same goes with Jordan Peele's films, there are not worth the shit on my shoes. Another hot take is that my opinions are infallible and gospel truth for I am the lanternbearer in the dark, the arbiter of truth.

For me it's ever since Titanic.Out of curiosity: when did nowadays start?
I think it came from SMS/instant message platforms. Forums are indeed a bit different from Discord/FB/Twitter/etc...People padding post counts adds nothing to the discussion and makes it a chore to slog through topics. I get it if the topic is like "what is your favorite kind of food" and you reply and just go "tacos" because the topic isn't asking for a dissertation about it. But when someone goes tacos and another person replies "yum", why bother? Just like the post and move on.
I don't know where, but it needs to go back where it came from either way.I think it came from SMS/instant message platforms. Forums are indeed a bit different from Discord/FB/Twitter/etc...
That's something I also have an issue with. They make these slow-burn, "methodical" films with perhaps a socio-political message covered in above average framing, blocking, etc etc. It's all just watered down art house films made to make mainstream audiences feel smart for watching them, makes them feel like a cinephile. It's for people that can't be bothered to read subtitles. This isn't even some sort of elitist "oh, it's not like this 1960s Yugoslavian black wave film) jerk off sess, anyone who does even the smallest dive below the surface will come to this conclusion. There are people that actually hate A24 movies, i don't know why.
